People with Hansen’s Disease are depicted as undergoing damage and suffering to their life and body and also social inhospitality and their lives are recorded and spread by the medium of literature. Novels on Hansen's Disease seek to prove and testify bitter history by representing actual events and incidents in a realistic manner. Besides, novels on Hansen's Disease can recover the human lives of people with Hansen's Disease and restore the whole story of events and incidents which have been excluded in history. The literary significance and value of novels dealing with Hansen's Disease therefore lies in lamenting people with Hansen's Disease and healing their agony by the realistic description of the disease as an incident. In addition, their desire for living a humane life as universal humans rather than patients in an unusual situation gives an opportunity to stimulate deep empathy from general readers through the novels and form the sympathetic field through literature.
