This study was conducted to understand the current status of Dance Theory Education in Art high school curriculum. The goal is to understand of current state of dance theory education in art high schools in Seoul and Kyunggi area and to analyze the education contents through text books. Through the research the problem of dance theory education in art high schools is follewed. The contents is not various and is very limited in understanding dance and dance appreciation and critics. Every school teaches understanding dance class but most of the contents focus on the history. So, it is not easy to recognize how the teachers teach the class recognizing the difference between dance history and understanding of dance classes. In addition, schools do not try any new contents related theory education. In 2018 many different dance theory text book came out but schools select only dance appreciation and critic book. Therefore, the result of analyzing the current situation related to Dance Theory Education confirmed that there should be many opportunities for students to experience various field of dance.

본 연구는 예술고등학교 무용과에서 이루어지고 있는 무용이론 수업의 현황을 파악하고 사용되고 있는 교과서 를 통해 교육 내용을 분석하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 통해 현재 이루어지고 있는 예술고등학교 무용이론 교육의 문제 점을 파악하고 향후 전문적인 무용교육을 위한 무용이론 교육의 발전 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 이는 예술고등학교 내에 서 보다 효율적인 무용이론 교육의 미래 방향을 제시한다는 점에서 그 의의를 지닌다. 현재 예술고등학교에서 이루어지 고 있는 무용이론 교육은 대부분이 무용의 이해 과목으로 이루어지고 무용 감상과 비평에 대한 비중이 줄어든 것으로 보인다. 이는 무용이론 수업의 내용이 다양하지 못하며 교과서의 내용이 무용역사 중심으로 무용사 수업과 어떠한 차이 점을 가지고 지도할지 예상하기 힘든 것으로 사료된다. 또한 교과서의 경우 2018년 다양한 과목이 집필되어 있으며 학 교마다 이러한 다양한 과목의 교과서를 채택하여 사용할 수 있으나 현재 무용 감상과 비평만이 채택된 것으로 알려져 있다. 이는 예술고등학교에서 무용이론 수업이 다양한 선택권이 있음에도 불구하고 새로운 과목으로 개척이 이루어지 지 않는 것으로 생각된다. 그러므로 예술고등학교가 무용의 조기 전문예술교육을 위한 기관으로 그 역할을 하기 위해서 는 전반적인 무용교육이 발전해야 하고 이론과 실기가 조화를 이루는 교육환경이 조성되어야 한다. 더불어 무용이론 과 목의 다양한 선택을 도와 단지 이론 교육에 그치는 것이 아니라 실기와 연계시켜 학생들이 접하고 있는 무용예술에 대한 비판적 사고를 할 수 있도록 도와줘야 할 것이다.
