This paper aims to consider the characteristics of ‘Han’ and Donghak thought and their practical development, and their politico-practical tasks. ‘Han’ thought is essentially in line with Donghak as the modern manifestation of ‘Han’ thought in that ‘Han’ is the thought of ‘Oneness’ and the thought of noboundary, and a universal idea. The teachings of ‘Han’ thought and Donghak could serve as a guide to open a new era of enlightenment by giving a complete understanding of the coherence of everything through true knowledge at the time when establishing a new relationship between space and earth and human being is required. From the true knowledge beyond duality, the wisdom of equality is revealed, and the whole acceptance of life itself and the practice of loving all things without discrimination come out. Today, ‘Han’ thought or Donghak is significant especially because the values that mankind pursues can not be realized without the awareness and practice of ‘Oneness’. The reason we are considering the characteristics of ‘Han’ and Donghak thought and their politico-practical tasks is to realize the global life community where individuals and communities form self-consistency as well as peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula.

초록 close 본 연구는 ‘한’과 동학의 사상적 특성 및 실천적 전개와 이들 사상의 정치실천적 과제에 대해 고찰하기 위한 것이다. ‘한’은 ‘대일(大一)’의 사상이며 ‘무경계’의 사상이고 인류 보편의 사상이라는 점에서 ‘한’사상의 근대적 발현인 동학과 본질적으로 상통한다. ‘한’사상과 동학의 가르침은 우주와 지구와 인간의 새로운 관계 정립이 요망되는 현 시점에서 진지(眞知)를 통해 만사의 정합성(整合性)을 온전히 이해할수 있게 함으로써 새로운 계몽시대를 여는 길라잡이 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다. 이원성을 넘어선 진정한 앎에서 평등성지(平等性智)가 드러나고 삶 자체에대한 전적인 수용과 더불어 만유를 차별 없이 사랑하는 실천이 나오게 된다. 오늘날 ‘한’사상이나 동학이 긴요한 것은, ‘하나됨’에 대한 인식과 실천이 없이는 인류가 추구하는 제 가치가 실현될 수 없기 때문이다. 우리가 ‘한’과 동학의 사상적 특성과 정치실천적 과제에 대해 고찰하려는 것도 한반도 평화통일과 더불어 개인과 공동체가 ‘자기조화(self-consistency)’를 이루는 지구생명공동체를 구현하기 위한 것이다.
