The purpose of this study is to examine the major battles and the way of combat, starting from the Battle of Goesan, the first battle of the Bukjeop peasants’ army of north district, to the battle of Yeongdong Yongsan. This study is to review of the 10 major battles and to summarize the process which was how to choose the method of the battle of the Bukjeop peasants’ army of north district. As the peasants experienced the battle, they learned how to make the damage least through the battles. They went up to highland first and then chose the battle method to defend. The result of this study was that the Bukjeop peasants’ army encountered a battle and learned how to make the damage least, which was to go up high and defend themselves through the battle. It was one of the most important ways in all battles in history. The battle of Yeongdong Yongsan was helded in highland from the beginning. So, the Bukjeop peasants’ army was able to win the battle.

이 연구의 목적은 북접농민군이 첫 번째 전투인 괴산전투에서 시작하여 영동 용산전투에 이르기까지 벌인 주요 전투와 그 전투 방식을 검토하기 위한것이다. 이 연구의 내용은 먼저 10차례의 주요 전투를 살펴보는 것으로 구성하였다. 그런 다음 북접농민군이 높은 고지에 올라가서 방어를 하는 전투방식을선택하게 된 과정을 정리하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 북접농민군이 전투를 경험하면서 가장 피해를 적게 입는방법을 알게 된 것을 확인한 내용이다. 그것은 무기가 열세인 동학농민군이전투가 벌어질 때 고지에 올라가서 방어하면 유효사거리가 긴 신식소총에 의한 피해를 줄이는 것을 알게 되었고, 이 경험을 이후에 벌어진 전투에서 활용한 것이다. 고지에 올라서 방어하는 전투는 역사상 모든 전투에서 중요시했던 방식이었다. 영동 용산전투도 처음부터 고지에 올라 공세를 취하는 방식을 적용해서 피해가 적었다. 그리고 경리병과 진남병 그리고 옥천 민보군의공격을 물리칠 수 있었다.
