We examine roughly Namdang(南塘) Han Won-jin(韓元震)'s idea which was roots of Confucianism line in advance, also examine how practice spirit of Bogam(復菴) Yi Seol(李 偰) and Jisan(志山) Kim Bok-han(金福漢) who admired Namdang and emulated him went on, embraced and made newly. Like this in the letter part of Joseon dynasty Hongju area was ruled by the school of Kiho. As a center of the culture, Hongju cultivated a spinal movement of Confucian scholar and anti-japanese movement. Not only that at the end of the Korean empire Hongju performed a campaign to restore national sovereignty and the independence movement including the Paris Book movement and 3.1 Independence movement faithfully as a power of the Hoseo area. In this respect, especially we can say that the practice spirit of Hongju Righteous Army of the Ho-ron(湖論) take an important position to file national power for independence and was driving force to develop independence movement into national resistance movement. As everyone knows, Confucian practice spirit of Hongju Righteous Army which was based on Namdang's ‘theory of difference between human nature and the nature of things[人物性相異論]’ expressed to lead right acts for establishing not only self identity but also national identity for a save-the-nation drive. This paper sheds new light on innate relations of Yi Seol, Kim Bok-han's Righteous Army movement and practice spirit which was based on Namdang Han Won-jin's ideas also examines it's contemporary Meanings.

이 논문은 홍주의병의 유교 학맥의 뿌리인 남당(南塘) 한원진(韓元震)의 사상을 개략적으로 살펴보고, 한원진을 사숙한 것을 자부하는 복암(復菴) 이설(李偰)과 지산(志山) 김복한(金福漢)의 실천정신을 중심으로 그들의 사상이 서로 어떻게 이어지고 홍주 의병활동에 수용, 전개되었는지 살펴본다. 조선후기 기호학파의 영향권에 있었던 홍주지역은 홍주문화권의 유생들의 척사운동과항일의병, 대한제국말 국권회복운동과 파리장서운동, 그리고 3.1 운동 등 독립운동에 있어서 호서지역 세력기반이었다. 이런 점에서 특히 호론계 홍주의병의 실천정신은 독립에대한 민족적 힘을 축적하는 데 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있고, 민족독립운동을 전 민족적비폭력 저항운동으로 발전시키는 원동력이 되었다고 평가할 수 있다. 이러한 홍주의병의 유교적 실천정신은 한원진의 인물성이론(人物性異論)을 바탕으로 하여 지식인의 철저한 자기반성과 민족의 정체성 확립, 그리고 구망(救亡)의 차원에서 표명되었다. 이에 이 논문은 한원진의 사상에 뿌리를 두고 홍주의병을 전개한 이설과 김복한의 의병운동과 실천정신을 남당 사상과의 내적 연관 속에서 재조명하고 그 현대적 의미를 살펴본다.
