This study examines Lewis's understanding of the theological imagination and examines its implications. We first examine how Lewis understands the role of imagination and then examine the role each of imagination and reason plays in the identification of reality. Next, since Lewis's understanding of imagination is coupled with his understanding of myths, we examine Lewis's view of "the myth that became true." In the process, we notice how Lewis overcame both "a glib and shallow rationalism" and a superficial view of myth, and crossed over to his new understanding of Christ's incarnation, thereby giving him a different perspective on Christianity and other religions. Finally, we point out that Lewis's theological understanding of imagination leads to his fresh interpretation of Christian doctrines, including the doctrine of the Trinity. In the concluding section, we emphasize that Lewis's imaginative understanding of imagination, myth, and doctrine calls for the fresh interpretation and presentation of Christian doctrines for our day.
