The honorific usage of the utterance verb Iu in the Spoken Japanese version of the New Testament

The present paper investigates how the three honorific variants of the utterance verb , ① Ooseninaru・② Ooserareru and ③ Ossyaru, were used in the spoken Japanese version of the New Testament. What was found is as follows: 1) Ooseninaru was used when 1. the honorific agent was<God=Lord=Father> or , 2. the utterance act was abstract, and 3. the utterance described large-scale contents. 2) Ooserareru was used when 1. the honorific agent was or , 2. the utterance act was concrete, and 3. the utterance act was addressed from <God=Lord> or <human Jesus> to particular individuals. 3) Ossyaru was used when 1. the honorific agent was ,
