The purposes of this study were to explore technology education system in Nigeria and to find the implications and to provide basic data of technology education in Korea and NKMS . For these purposes, this study analyzed the literature of Nigeria technology education curriculum and collected information through interview with technology education specialists. From these results were drawn conclusions as follows. First, the nature of technology education in Nigeria is being implemented in the context of 'vocational literacy education'. In order to comply with the global trend, it is necessary to revise it to the level of 'technological literacy'. Second, The contents system of technology education is composed according to the theme approach, and it is the five main subjects of 'understanding of basic technology, safety, material and processing, drawing practice, tool and machine and processing'. At present, the contents of technology education constructed according to the theme approach are suitable for the skill-oriented industrialization era, so that it is limited to understand the technology world widely. Third, In order to cultivate creativity and problem solving ability through technology education, the teacher should move away from lecture class and concentrate on project activities. The classroom environment of Nigeria's local schools is so poor that it is difficult to expect various activities. Fourth, it is necessary to activate home projects related to technological activities in Korea 's technology education. Finally, it is necessary to provide and expand training opportunities for technology teachers. Nigeria has a very low quality teachers because of the low social status of teachers. In order to improve the qualities of technology teachers, it is necessary to provide various training opportunities.

이 연구는 나이지리아의 기술교육 체제와 교육목적 및 내용에 대해 탐색하여 우리나라와 나이지 리아-코리아 모델 학교의 기술교육에 주는 기초자료와 시사점을 얻기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이러한 러시아 기술교육의 탐색을 통하여 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 나이지리아의 기술교육에 대한 성격은 ‘직업소양교육’ 차원에서 실행되고 있다. 세계적으로 기술교육에서 기술적 소양을 강조하고 있으며 이에 대한 연구도 상당히 축적되어 있어 그 정당성이 인정되고 있다. 나이지리아는 국가 경쟁력을 강화하기 위하여 직업소양교육을 강조하고 있지만, 9 년간의 보편기초교육에서는 기술에 대한 소양을 길러 기술의 세계를 이해하는데 초점을 둠으로써 세계적인 추세에 부합할 수 있다. 둘째, 기술교육의 내용 체계는 주제접근 방식에 따라 구성되어 있으며, ‘기초기술의 이해, 안전, 재료와 가공, 제도 실습, 공구와 기계 및 가공’의 5가지 대주제이다. 기술의 세계를 폭넓게 이해하 기 위해서는 기능중심의 내용보다는 과정중심의 기술 소양과 과정중심의 내용이 필요하다. 셋째, 기술교육을 통한 창의력과 문제해결력을 기르기 위해서 강의식 수업에서 탈피하여 프로젝 트 활동 중심으로 이루어져야 한다. 나이지리아의 교실환경이 매우 열악하여 다양한 활동을 기대하 기 어렵지만 정부의 지원을 통해 기술교실의 개혁이 필요하다. 마지막으로, 기술교사들을 위한 다양한 수업자료와 연수기회를 제공해야 한다. 나이지리아는 교 사들의 위상이 낮기 때문에 질 높은 기술교사가 매우 부족하다. 기술교사들의 자질 향상을 위해서 다양한 연수기회를 제공하여 스스로 자료를 개발하고 수업에 활용할 수 있도록 할 필요가 있다.
