There is a sharp drop in the number of teenagers in the Korean church. Even if it means that it is hard to preach the gospel to the youth, it should also be taken seriously as it means that the youth who have already been in the church are leaving. There are many complex factors that cause youth to leave the church, but it is important to reflect on whether or not the youth will leave the church due to the sermon. Because the largest portion of the youth ministry is sermon. Teenagers want a sermon in line with their development. Teenagers want the content of a sermon that understands them, shares their concerns with them, and helps them solve their problems in practice. As for the form of the sermon, teenagers would like a variety of forms of sermon to experience the changes, not a rigid or a consistent form like an adult sermon. The reason why teenagers doze off or do not concentrate during the sermon time is because they do not get the sermon they were expecting. Therefore, this paper looked at the theory of cognitive development, psychological development, moral development, and faith development in order to find the direction, content, and method of the youth sermon that affects the lives of the youth. With insights gained from these development theories, I have presented the goals, the contents, and the methods of the youth sermon.

한국교회 안에 청소년들이 급격히 줄고 있다. 청소년들이 줄고 있다는 뜻은 전도가 되지 않는다는 뜻도 되지만, 기존에 교회에 잘 다니던 청소년들도 교회를 떠나고 있다는 뜻도 된다는 점에서 심각하게 바라보아야 한다. 청소년들이 교회를 떠나는 원인으로는 여러 복합적인 요인들이 있겠지만, 청소년 목회에서 가장 큰 비중을 차지하고 있는 영역이 설교이기 때문에 청소년들이 교회를 떠나는 원인이 설교에 있지는 않은지 성찰해보아야 한다. 청소년들은 자신들의 발달에 맞는 설교를 원한다. 청소년들은 자신들을 이해하고, 자신들의 고민에 공감해주고, 자신들의 문제를 실질적으로 해결할 수 있도록 도움을 주는 설교의 내용을 원한다. 설교의 형식에서도 성인설교와 같이 딱딱하고 맨날 똑같은 형식의 주입식 설교가 아니라, 변화를 경험할 수 있는 다양한 형식의 설교를 원한다. 청소년들이 설교 시간에 꾸벅꾸벅 졸거나 설교에 집중하지 못하는 이유는 청소년들이 기대하는 설교가 나오지 않기 때문이다. 따라서 본 논문은 청소년들의 삶에 영향을 주는 청소년 설교의 방향성과 내용, 그리고 청소년 설교의 방법을 찾기 위해서인지 발달, 심리 발달, 도덕성 발달, 신앙 발달 이론들을 살펴보았다. 그리고 이러한 발달 이론들에서 얻을 수 있는 청소년 설교에 대한 통찰을 가지고 청소년 설교의 목표, 청소년 설교의 내용, 청소년 설교의 방법을 구상하고 제시해 보았다.
