The purpose of essay is to find a practical way for schooling to promote an elementary·middle school students’ school happiness. For this purpose, the meanings of ‘happiness’ which be pursued in schooling will be considered at the normative dimension. The Korean relationship culture is critically inquired in aspects that the quality of relationship which students establish a relation with the others is a core personality variable. And the teacher’ leading role tasks are discussed for the sake of promoting the quality of teachers-students relationship. The teacher who is promoting the quality of teachers-students relations strives to pursue one's studies and self-improvement. As he or she recognizes teachers-students relations are inequality, he or she treats students with respect. He or she attracts voluntary participation from students for establishing school/classroom rules. Also he or she is aware that living with a thankful heart in school is a capability of being happy, he or she can contribute to the improvement of their school happiness by trying to offer students more chances to experience such a thing. Students would be aware of the good life and develop a motivation to pursue the purpose of valuable life through those experiences and enhance the feeling of subject well-being in school ultimately

본 논문은 학교교육이 기본적으로 학생들의 행복 증진에 어떤 도움을 줄 수 있는가의 물음에서 출발하여 행복감 증진의 실제적인 방안을모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, 학교교육에서 추구해야 할 행복교육의 ‘행복’의 의미는 어떤 것이어야 하는가를 규범적 차원에서 고찰한다. 학생들이 타인들과 맺게 되는 관계성의 질이 지속가능한 행복의 질을 결정하는 주요 인성적 변수라는 측면에서 한국의 관계문화의특성을 비판적으로 검토하고, 교사와 학생 간의 관계성의 질을 개선할수 있는 교사 주도적 역할과제에 관하여 논의한다. 교사와 학생 간 관계성의 질을 개선하는 교사는 자신이 가르치는교과에 열정을 가지고 자기 계발에 매진한다. 그는 교사와 학생은 불평등 관계에 있다는 점을 인식하고 학생들을 인격체로 존중한다. 그는 학생들의 자발적인 참여를 유도하여 협동적으로 학급 규칙을 제정하며, 감사하는 마음은 행복할 수 있는 능력임을 자각하고 이를 실천할수 있는 기회를 자주 제공한다. 학생들은 이런 경험을 통해 선한 삶에대한 인식과 더불어 자신의 가치 있는 삶의 목적을 찾고자 하는 동기를 발달시킴으로써 학교 행복감을 높일 수 있다.
