The purpose of this study is to figure out the effect of the adolescents’ music in mood regulation on the school adjustment by the medium of the emotion identification. The study participants conducted a questionnaire on the music in mood regulation, school adjustment, and emotion identification targeting 300 students being in attendance at D Middle School and P Middle School in Gyeongbuk. The questionnaires of 243 students who wrote the questionnaire consent form and responded sincerely were analyzed. As a result of analyzing by the structural equation model to reveal the relationship between the music in mood regulation and the school adjustment by the medium of the emotion identification, the measuring model regarding the music in mood regulation, emotion identification, and school adjustment as potential variables was organized properly and it was shown the emotion identification entirely intermediated the relationship between the music in mood regulation and the school adjustment. This study result means that if adolescents use the music in mood regulation effectively, it influences for them to identify the emotion well and can have a positive effect on the school adjustment accordingly. The proposal on the implications, limitations, and follow-up study of this study was discussed focusing on this result.

본 연구는 청소년의 음악사용 기분조절전략과 정서인식, 학교적응의 관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구 참여자들은 경북 지역에 위치한 D, P 중학교에 재학 중인 243명으로 자기보고식 질문지를 사용하여 음악사용 기분조절전략, 학교적응, 정서인식을 측정하였다. 이어서 선행연구에 기초하여 음악사용 기분조절전략, 정서인식과 학교적응의 관계를 살펴보고자 구조방정식 모형 분석을 실시하였다. 결과, 중학생의 음악사용 기분조절전략이 정서인식을 매개로 학교적응에 정적인 영향력을 미친다는 연구모형의 모형적합도가 만족할만한 수준으로 나타났으며, 정서인식은 음악사용 기분조절전략과 학교적응을 완전 매개하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 음악 감상에 대한 선호와 빈도가 높은 우리나라 중학생의 특성을 고려할 때, 음악사용 기분조절전략을 많이 사용할수록, 자신의 정서를 더 잘 인식하고, 학교 적응에 유익하다는 결과를 나타내며, 음악사용 기분조절전략과 같은 치료적 접근이 유용하게 적용될 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 이어서 논의를 통해 본 연구에서 충분히 고려하지 못한 한계점과 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 기술하였다.
