However, there is a strong possibility that people will choose Christianity because Suncheon region already has many influences on Christianity. Despite various negative factors in this respect, I think the church growth in Suncheon area in the future is hopeful. However, the problem is that the churches in the Suncheon area have to take on the role of light and salt in the world according to the teachings of the Holy Bible.

해방 이후 순천지역 교회들은 수난과 교단 분열의 아픔을 이기고 크게 성장을 하였다. 순천지역 교회들의 성장 과정에는 선교사들의 헌신과 선교 정책, 그리고 여러 교단 교회들의 역할이 있었다. 선교사들은 학교를 세우고 다양한 선교 정책을 정하여 선교에 힘썼다. 그 결과 많은 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 다양한 교단들이 순천지역에 선교를시작하여 많은 열매를 거두게 되었다. 처음에는 장로교가 선교를 시작하였지만 시간이흐르면서 다른 교단들이 함께 참여하여 순천지역의 선교가 큰 성과를 거두게 된 것이다. 현재 순천지역의 기독교인들은 순천시 인구의 약 24%에 이른다. 지속적인 성장을 바라지만 시대적인 영향으로 인해 교회의 성장이 희망적이지만은않다. 하지만 순천지역은 다른 지역과 차별화된 조건들이 있어서 다른 지역들보다는 미래 교회 성장에 희망을 가질 수가 있다. 그 이유는 순천지역은 다른 지역들에 비해 상대적으로 인구증가가 점차적으로 늘어나고 있다는 점이다. 순천지역이 인구 유입이 많은이유는 미래 방향을 생태도시로 정하여 생태 환경에 관심을 많이 두는데 있다고 본다. 오늘날 대부분의 사람들은 환경을 생각하며 살아간다. 이런 현상은 미래에는 더욱 더커질 것이라고 전망한다. 그러므로 많은 사람들이 좋은 환경을 찾아서 순천지역으로 모여들게 될 것이므로 교회 성장에는 큰 영향이 있다고 본다. 또한 미래에는 과학의 발전으로 인해 사람들이 지치게 될 것이다. 지친 사람들은 영혼의 안식을 찾아 신앙을 가지게 될 것이다. 그런데 순천지역에는 기독교가 이미 많은영향을 미치고 있기 때문에 사람들이 기독교를 선택할 가능성이 높다. 이런 면에서 다양한 부정적인 요소들이 있음에도 불구하고 미래 순천지역 교회 성장은 희망적이라고 본다. 다만 순천지역 교회들이 세상에서 빛과 소금의 역할을 잘 감당해야 하는 것이 과제로남아 있다.
