The essential relationship between autobiography and time is one of the oldest topics that historically searched. Hyekyunggung Hong(惠慶宮洪 氏, 1735-1815) of 『Hanjungrok』(1795-1805) and Michisseunanohaha(道綱母, 936?-995) of 『Gageronikki(蜻蛉日記)』(974), they were the writers who could not escape from obsession with the time. In order to understand the literature of the Korea-Japan Dynasty, this paper tries to figure out how these two female writers managed the time with the Western autobiography in mind. I would like to question the introduction of the reminiscence and how the movement of time order was being carried out in these two works. In particular, I would like to take a look at the reminiscence and the sense of time associated with the examples of the snow and rain in 『Hanjungrok』 and 『Gageronikki』. The time gap in 『Hanjungrok』 which Hyekyunggung recalls, is ｢durée pure｣ with continuity. The mechanical and spatial times of falling snow and rain are inseparable, and are incorporated by the snow and rain being recalled. Especially, The snow written by Hyekyunggung is restoring a painful and sad time lost. Hyekyunggung also precisely describes the prince’s phobia in close relation to rain in 『Hanjungrok』 4. Beyond the restriction of time and space, Haekyunggung constitutes a miserable palace life with the present feelings from reminiscence. Hyekyunggung’s reminiscence of a continuous stream of time is not just a temporary, spontaneous phenomenon, it is another experience that gives meaning to the life and existence of Hyekyunggung. In 『Gageronikki』, the snow and rain was a clearly repeated reminiscence. The reminiscence using the same expression at the present writing point, can only be described by the concept of ｢durée pure｣that Henri-Louis Bergson described. It is not the past as a time and space trajectory, but it is the continuation in succession with the present. Michisseunanohaha’s present is vividly restoring the lost time through snow and rain. As they grow into the only human beings who are different from others, they discover their true lives. Self-protective excuses for one’s life are being regenerated into the only and irreplaceable form of repentance. The two women’s times were replayed with unrefined innocence, covering the historical truths behind the colorful, precise language. Now we don’t have to cause party strife to see the authenticity of the two women’s past times chronologically. We could just watch them as the histories of the art.

자서전과 시간의 본질적인 관계는 오래된 역사적 탐색 주제의 하나이다. 한국과 일본의 왕조문학을 대표하는 『한중록』의 혜경궁 홍씨(惠慶宮 洪氏, 1735-1815)와 『가게로닛키(蜻蛉日記)』의 미치쓰나노하하(道綱母, 936?-995)는 시간의 강박증으로부터 벗어날 수 없는 작가들이었다. 본고는 한일 왕조문학작품을 이해하기 위해, 서구의 자서전을 염두에 두면서 두 여류작가의 시간 운용법을 파악하려고 한다. 두 작품의 회상의도입과 시간 질서라는 영위가 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지를 문제시하고자 한다. 특히 『한중록』과 『가게로일기』 안의 눈비의 용례에 관련된 회상과 시간 의식을 살피고자 한다. 혜경궁이 회상한 『한중록』의 시간 간극은 연속성을 가지는 그야말로 순수지속의 시간이라고 할 수 있다. 눈비가 내린 기계적이며 공간적인 시간들은 분리되지 않으며, 회상되는 눈비에 의하여 통합된다. 특히 혜경궁의 눈은 애달프고 슬펐던 잃어버린 시간을 복원시키고 있다. 또한 혜경궁은 『한중록』 기4의 임오화변으로 치닫는 숨 막히는 정변의과정에서, 세자의 경계증(驚悸症)을 비와 관련시키며 치밀하게 묘사하고 있다. 시간과공간의 제약에서 벗어나, 회상를 통해 혜경궁은 한스러운 궁정생활을 현재의 감정으로구성한다. 시간적으로 계기하는 연속상 속의 혜경궁의 회상은 일시적이며 즉흥적인 그해 그날만의 현상이 아니며, 혜경궁의 인생과 존재에 의미를 부여하는 다른 경험인 것이다.『가게로닛키』에서 눈비는 확연하게 반복되는 회상이었다. 현재의 집필시점에서 동일한 회상표현을 구사하는 회상은, 베르그송이 말하는 순수지속의 시간개념으로밖에 설명할 수 없다. 시간과 공간의 궤적으로서의 과거가 아니라, 과거를 현재와 연속적으로 보아계속성을 지니게 한다. 미치쓰나노노하하의 현재는, 눈과 비를 통해 잃어버린 시간을생생히 복원시키고 있는 것이다. 그러면서 그들은 그 시간 속에서 타인과 다른 유일한 인간으로 성장하며 그들만의진정한 삶을 발견하고 있다. 자신의 삶에 대한 자기 옹호적인 변명은 역으로 유일하고독특한 대체할 수 없는 참회로 거듭나고 있다. 두 여인의 시간은, 화려하며 정밀한 언어로 감추어진 과거의 역사적 사실을 덮고, 정제되지 않은 순수함으로 재생되었다. 현재우리는 굳이 두 여인의 과거시간의 진위를 연대기적 시간으로 파악하기 위해 논쟁을벌일 필요가 없다. 예술로서의 역사로 바라보면 그만이다.
