In this study, it was considered that the space ‘island’ of ‘Heterotopia’ is what kind of place it is and that Japan,　It was centered. “Ukigumo” and “Yakushima Kiko” by Hayashi Fumiko, released after the Pacific War.The island ‘Yakushima’ that emerged from the above works is represented by the primitive space of nature, isolated from the scars of war and the world of civilization, at the same time, an island of boundaries that did not have a route to war anymore.Yukiko and Tomioka spent a warm time in the peaceful Dalat of the island, a kind of land opposite to the war outside..However, after being defeated in the defeated Japan, it had to endure hard and cold days. Dalat is a happy space with Tomioka to Yukiko, and it is expressed to Tomioka as a place where he could demonstrate his professional value and presence in the nature.The reality that they faced after returning to Japan after the war was so harsh and cold.In the end, the island of the southernmost part of the island, Yakushima, where two people went as if they were, is regarded as an impression similar to ‘Dalat’ appearing in a sweet dream. Maybe it is because the remote island of Yakushima, like Dalat, was thought to be another paradise where two people can live with each other or each can dream. However, the reality of Yakushima strongly rejects the image of the ideal of the new world as frequent rain and isolated terrain. In other words, there was no actual ‘Paradise’ where we got away from reality. The island as a ‘Heterotopia’ that the male and female protagonists sought is emerging as a boundary and a feeling of loss as if they represented the current defeat of Japan. In short, Yakushima is a cross-section of postwar Japan, Japan is dreaming of a paradise on earth, and now is the present dream of a dream.

본고에서는 전후에 발표된 하야시 후미코의 󰡔뜬구름󰡕과 ｢야쿠시마기행｣을 중심으로 전쟁의 가해국이면서 패전국이 된 일본이 구현하고자한 ‘헤테로토피아’의 공간 ‘섬’은 어떤 곳인지를 고찰하였다. 상기의 작품에서 등장하는 섬 ‘야쿠시마’는 전쟁으로 더 이상 나갈 항로를 갖지 못한 경계(한계)의 섬이자 동시에 전쟁의 상흔과 문명의 세계와는 격리된 대자연의 원시적 공간으로 대표된다. 󰡔뜬구름󰡕의 유키코와 도미오카는 바깥의 전쟁과는 상반된, 일종의 육지 속 ‘섬’과 같은 평화로운 달랏에서 따뜻한 시간을 보냈다. 그러나 패전한 일본으로 인양된 후는 힘들고 추운 시절을 견뎌야 했다. 달랏은 유키코에게 도미오카와 함께한 행복했던 공간으로, 도미오카에게는 대자연 속에서 자신의 직업적 가치와 존재감을 발휘할 수 있었던 공간으로 부조된다. 그런 그들이 전후 일본으로 귀환한 뒤 맞닥뜨리게 된 현실은 너무나도 가혹하고 냉엄했다. 결국 두 사람이 도피하듯 가게 된 최남단의 섬 야쿠시마는 평소 달콤한 꿈에서 등장하는 ‘달랏’과 흡사한 인상으로 내재화된다. 어쩌면 외딴 섬 야쿠시마는 달랏과 마찬가지로 두 사람이 서로에게 주목하며 살 수 있는, 혹은 각자 꿈을 꿀 수 있는 또 다른 낙원이 될 수도 있으리라 생각했기 때문이다. 그러나 현실의 야쿠시마는 잦은 비와 고립된 지형으로 신세계로서의 안이한 이상향의 이미지를 단호히 거부한다. 즉, 현실에서 도망쳐 도착한 곳에 현실적 ‘낙원’은 존재하지 않았다. 이처럼 남녀주인공이 희구했던 ‘헤테로토피아’로서의 섬은 패전한 일본의 현재를 표상하듯 한계(경계)와 상실감으로 부상되어 오는 것이다. 요컨대 야쿠시마는 전후 일본의 단면이며 자신들의 지상낙원을 꿈꾸며 전쟁으로 치달려간 일본, 그 허황된 꿈의 현재이기도 한 것이다.
