The present study was to examine the mediating effects of rejection sensitivity, social withdrawal, and interpersonal problems on the relationship between early trauma experience and depression. A total of 587 high school students participated in the present study. The measures included Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, Rejection Sensitivity Questionnaire, Social Withdrawal Scale, Interpersonal Relationship Scale, and Depression Scale. Collected data were analysed using structural equation modeling. Results of the study were as follows. First, early trauma experience, rejection sensitivity, and social withdrawal had direct effects on interpersonal problems, and interpersonal problems had a direct effect on depression. Second, early trauma experience had an indirect effect on depression through interpersonal problems. Third, rejection sensitivity and interpersonal problems had sequential mediating effects on the relationship between early trauma experience and depression, and social withdrawal and interpersonal problems had sequential mediating effects on the relationship between early trauma experience and depression. In addition, rejection sensitivity, social withdrawal, and interpersonal problems had sequential mediating effects on the relationship between early trauma experience and depression. These results suggest that early trauma experience, rejection sensitivity, social withdrawal, and interpersonal problems need to be considered in comprehensive manner.

본 연구는 초기 외상경험과 우울의 관계에서 거부민감성, 사회적 위축, 대인관계 문제의 매개 효과를 검증하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구대상은 남․녀 고등학생 총 587명이었다. 측정도구는 아동기 외상질문지, 거부민감성 질문지, 사회적 위축 척도, 대인관계 척도, 우울 척도였다. 수 집된 자료는 구조방정식 모형을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 초기 외상경험, 거부민감성, 사회적 위축은 대인관계 문제에 직접 영향을 미쳤고, 대인관계 문제는 우울에 직접 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 초기 외상경험은 대인관계 문제를 경유하여 우울에 간접적 인 영향을 주었다. 셋째, 거부민감성과 대인관계 문제는 초기 외상경험과 우울의 관계에서 순 차적 매개효과가 있었고, 사회적 위축과 대인관계 문제는 초기 외상경험과 우울의 관계에서 순차적 매개효과가 있었다. 또한 거부민감성, 사회적 위축, 대인관계 문제는 초기 외상경험과 우울의 관계에서 순차적 매개효과가 있었다. 이러한 결과는 청소년의 우울을 감소시키기 위 해서 초기 외상경험, 거부민감성, 사회적 위축 및 대인관계 문제를 포괄적으로 고려할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
