Yukio Mishima’s is a three-act play published in the December 1968 issue of Bungakukai. Taking an overview of Mishima‘s activity in 1968 when the play was released, he published “Bunkaboeiron” in Chuokoron in July, and founded an organization of private army called ‘Tatenokai’ on October 15. Mishima committed suicide at the Ichigaya Camp of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces on November 25, 1970, just two years later. This confirms that was published when his extreme right-wing thinking was getting deeper, almost coinciding with the time when “Bunkaboeiron” was published and ‘Tatenokai’ was organized, which are considered deeply related to his death. In other words, is a text that gives us a glimpse of the thought of Yukio Mishima in his last years. After a close examination of Hitler and the historical situation of Germany at that time, Yukio Mishima wrote , comparing the German situation with the circumstances in Japan. The situation of Germany in 1934 as depicted in —defeat in the war, dissatisfaction with postwar democracy, and threat of communism—parallelled the situation of Japan in 1968 and had a great impact on Mishima’s thought. In particular, Ernst Roehm and Sturmabteilung who made great contributions to Hitler’s seizure of power by supporting Hitler and the Nazi Party, seem to have had some influence on Mishima’s Tatenokai plan.
