This study empirically analyzed the effects of FTA on Korean firms, especially SMEs. The results of this study are as follows. First, as a result of a comparative analysis before and after concluding a free trade agreement with the European Union, In the case of non-manufacturing, before the agreement, the relationship of negative changed to positive result after agreement. In other words, although it is not significant, it can be seen that free trade agreements with the European Union have had a positive impact on the business performance of SMEs, especially non-manufacturing. Second, In the case of the United States are as follows. In the case of the whole industry, after the agreement, the exports decreased and the influence decreased. In particular, manufacturing has a more negative impact. Non-manufacturing, on the other hand, has positive results. In the end, the free trade agreement with the United States shows negative results for SMEs.

본 연구는 자유무역협정이 한국기업, 특히 중소기업에게 어떠한 영향을 끼는가를 실증분석 하였다. 분석대상은 한국이 체결한 자유무역협 정중 시장규모가 큰 미국과 유럽연합과의 자유무역협정을 대상으로 긍정적인 영향을 끼친다는 가설하에 분석을 실시하였다. 첫째, 유럽연합 과의 자유무역협정 체결 전후로 비교 분석한 결과, 비제조업의 경우 체결 전에는 음(부)의 관계가 체결후 양의 결과로 바뀌었음을 보여준다. 즉, 비록 유의하지는 않지만 유럽연합과의 자유무역협정은 중소기업의 경영성과 특히 비제조업에 긍정적인 영향을 끼쳤음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 미국과의 자유무역협정 체결전과 후의 경영성과를 분석결과 전체 산업의 경우 체결후에 수출은 줄어들었고 영향력도 줄어든 것을 알 수 있었 다. 특히 제조업의 경우 더욱 부정적인 영향을 끼치고 있다. 그러나 비제조업은 반대로 긍정적인 결과를 보여주고 있다. 결국, 미국과의 자유무 역협정은 중소기업에게는 부정적인 결과를 보여주고 있음을 보여준다.
