The PyeongChang Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games have led to a breathtaking diplomatic effort to find a peaceful solution in order for the North Korean nuclear issue and establishing peace on the Korean peninsula. Furthermore, on April 27, the ‘2018 Inter-Korean Summit’ and subsequent ‘North Korea and the US Summit’ on June 12 would start to discuss about peace on the Korean peninsula. The situation on the Korean Peninsula is expected to be changed. It is an opportunity to discuss about the peace regime on the Korean peninsula. The progress of the inter-Korean relations is expected to serve as a signal of the progress of relations between North Korea and the United States. Despite the improvement in relations with the peace mood between the South and the North, the issue of denuclearization of North Korea is a key pre-condition for peace and prosperity on the Korean peninsula. Above all, the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the discussion of the peace regime are key elements of US decision-making and cooperation. Therefore, this article firstly looks at the foreign strategy of the Kim, Jong-Un era in terms of a peace settlement on the Korean peninsula. This paper would like to look into the future of North Korea's foreign policy and discuss about improving North-US relations and establishing on a peace framework on the Korean peninsula.

평창올림픽･패럴림픽을 계기로 북핵과 한반도 문제의 평화적 해법을 찾기 위해 남북미는 숨 가쁜 외교적 행보를 거듭해 왔다. 더욱이 4월 27일 ‘2018 남북정상회담’과 이후 ‘북미회담’이 예정되어 있어 한반도 정세는 변화를 예고하고 있다. 지난 4월 27일 판문점에서의 ‘2018 남북 정상회담’은 북한의 비핵화 의제와 한반도 평화체제를 구체적으로 논의하는 계기가 되고 있다. 이처럼 진전된 남북관계는 향후 북미 간 관계 진전의 신호탄으로 작용할 것으로 예상 된다. 하지만 남북 간 평화무드와 관계개선에도 불구하고 북한의 비핵화 문제는 한반도평화와 번 영의 핵심 선제 조건이 되고 있다. 무엇보다도, 한반도 비핵화와 평화체제 논의는 미국의 결정 과 협력이 핵심 요소이다. 그러므로 본 글은 한반도 평화정착을 위해 지난 북한 김정은 시대의 대외전략을 우선적으로 살펴본다. 또한 향후 북한의 대외정책을 전망하고 북미관계 개선과 한 반도 평화프레임 정착을 위한 현안들을 논의하고자 한다.
