The Effect of Father’s Psychological Control on Adolescents’ School Adjustment - Mediating Effect of Self-Efficacy -

The aim of this study was to examine the mediating effect of self-efficacy on the relationship between father's psychological control and school adjustment. The subjects of this study were 209 middle school students (108 male and 101 female students) in capital area. The data were verified through Structural Equating Model(SEM). The following were the results of the study. First, there was a significant negative correlation between father 's psychological control and self–efficacy. And there were significant negative correlations between father 's psychological control and school adjustment. But there were significant positive correlations between self–efficacy and school adjustment. Second, the research model and the competition model were set up to investigate the intervention effect of the self-efficacy in the relationship between father's psychological control and school adjustment. As a result, it was found that the competition model, in which the self-efficacy was mediated completely, was appropriate in the relationship between father's psychological control and school adjustment. The implications and limitations of this study, and the way for the future research were discussed.
