According to the curriculum, Japanese language can be taught for about 70 hours. And a realizable language level to be achieved through this series of learning hours is about JLPT N4~N5, and A1 to A2 of ‘Common European Framework of Reference for Language’, which are a level capable of speaking a foreign language as good as a “communicatable” level. This study aims to review if the curriculum suggests an appropriate syllabus - basic expression for communication - to help learners have a good command of Japanese language to this degree. “Communicatable Japanese language” means a level that can be understood by a listener even if it is inaccurate and unnatural in a certain situation or scene. Namely, what a speaker says should be at an understandable level by a listener based on listener’s experience, and at a communicatable level even if the expression sometimes does not sound natural or correct, and also at a comprehensible level in general even if there are some misuses. Based on these criteria, therefore, this study suggests an alternative to “communicatable Japanese language”, taking the basic expression for communication into consideration in terms of frequency of usage, safety, grammar, and communication function. The main criteria for alternative are simple form, high frequency of usage, acceptable usage, and safety secured.

교육과정에서 일본어는 약 70시간 지도할 수 있다. 이 시간으로 구사할 수 있는 외국어 능력은 JLPT N4~N5, ‘Common European Framework of Reference for Language’의 A1~A2 정도이다. 이것은 일상생활에서 ‘통할 수 있을’ 정도의 외국어 구사 능력이라 할 수 있다. 본고에서는 학습자가 이 정도의 일본어를 구사할 수 있도록 교육과정에서 실러버스(의사소통 기본 표현)를 제시하고 있는지를 검토하였다. ‘통할 수 있는 일본어’는 어떤 상황／장면에서 부정확하고 부자연스럽더라도 상대가 이해할 수 있을 정도를 말한다. 경험상으로는 의미를 이해할 수 있는 것, 표현이 자연스럽지 못하더라도 통할 수 있는 것, 오용이 있더라도 전체적으로 이해 가능한 정도이어야 한다. 이 기준에 따라 의사소통 기본 표현을 ‘사용 빈도, 안전성, 문법, 의사소통 기능에 따른 언어형식’의 면에서 검토하여 ‘통할 수 있는 일본어’의 대안을 제시하였다. 대안의 기준은 형태가 단순하고, 사용 빈도가 높고, 사용에서 용인 가능해야 하고 안전성이 확보되는 것이라 할 수 있다.
