This article aims to understand the subjects in Confession of a Mask by Yukio Mishima as they relate to the concept of Homo Economicus, which ultimately reveals how the Japanese identity was formed around the concept in the post-World War II period. ‘I’ who may seem to be unrelated to the order of money in this text, is deeply related to the image of Homo Economicus in the following ways. First, to have believed the whole ' life ' itself as entirely positive, instead of dying for the maintenance of sovereign power. Second, to have believed in the possibility of a change in gender identity through technology of the Self under the influence of Daisho Kyoyoshugi. Finally, to have accepted the limitations of self governance, by accepting the impossibility of perfect self-technology. Homo Economicus, the main agent of liberal governance technology, may be seen as the key connection between the way political power operates from sovereign power of fascism, known as called ‘Zettai-tennosei,’ to the bio-politic of the emperor state, which is called ‘Shocho-tennosei.’
