The study analyzes and compares the descriptions of newspaper media as they appear in the works of Gwang-su Lee and Natsume Soseki. The two authors share the common experience of presenting their major works in newspapers. Also, they have both worked as journalists in newspaper companies. In their work, the two authors have described the newspaper media as possessing far-reaching impact, violence, propaganda, and duplicity. And the journalist's desirable attitude was indirectly revealed through the victim of false reporting. Soseki's work showed the process of shifting from the recipient of information to the sender. However, this was not the case in Gwang-su Lee's work. The difference illustrates the limits of the intellectual of the time, in which the press was heavily censored through the Newspaper Act and the Public Order Act. It also indicates the urgency of farmer enlightenment activities influenced by Tosan An Chang-ho.

이 연구는 춘원 이광수와 나쓰메 소세키의 작품에 드러난 신문 매체의 양상을 비교 분석 하고, 그 의미를 고찰한 것이다. 두 작가는 주요 작품들을 신문을 통해 발표하였고, 신문사에 재직한 공통점이 있다. 작품 속에서는 신문의 파급력, 폭력성, 프로파간다, 이중성 등이 나타났다. 또한 허위 보도 로 인해 피해 입는 사람을 통해 언론인의 바람직한 자세를 간접적으로 드러냈다. 소세키의 작품에서는 정보의 수신자에서 발신자로 변화하는 과정이 보였으나, 이광수의 작품에서는 그 렇지 않았다. 이것은 신문지법, 치안유지법 등을 통해 언론을 통제하였던 당시 시대상 속에서 지식인의 한계를 나타낸 것이자, 도산의 준비론의 영향을 받은 농촌계몽활동이 더 시급하다 는 것을 드러낸다.
