This study concentrates on the background of improvement(revision) in words “iku,” “yuku,” and “mairu” found in Cheophaesineo based on conversations, characters, and the relationship between translators. The word “iku” in the original copy changed to “yuku,” “mairu,” and “kaeru” in the revised edition. The word “mairu” in the revised edition derives from “ooshiraru,” “modoru,” “iku,” “iru,” and “kudaru” from the original edition. Although the characters and conversations are identical, the usage of words differed. The revisions can be seen through “Graph 1” in the text where “iku,” “kuru,” “modoru,” and “kudaru”changed mainly to “mairu.” All of “yuku,” “kaeru,” and “kuru” and even particular terms such as “oshiraru,” “omenikakaru,” “idu,” “kudaru,” and “gozaru” changed to “mairu.” The revisions were made to clarify the content of conversations and to express the noble language used by samurais. The verbs of movement related to the position, topic, and translations were revised to better suit the conversation. Thus, the trend of transition of words and the unique expressions used by samurais can be seen through analyzing related words in the editions of Cheophaesinoe.

捷解新語의 原刊･改修･重刊本에 나타나는 「いく(行く)」 「ゆく(行く)」 「まいる(参る)」와 개수시 사용한 관련 단어를 조사하여, 대화 내용, 인물, 통역관과의 관련성에 준해서 개수되는 배경에 대해서 고찰하다. 原刊本의 「いく」는 改修本에서 「ゆく･参る･帰る」 등으로 개수되 었으며, 改修本의 「参る」는 原刊本의 「おおしらる･戻る･行く･いる･下る」 등에서 개수된 것이다. 등장인물이나 대화 내용이 같음에도 불구하고 다양한 변화를 보이는 용례가 많이 보였다. 개수의 경향은 <表1＞과 같이 「いく, 来る, 戻る, 下る」 등의 関連語에서 「参る」로 개수된 것이 많았다. 특히 주목되는 것은 改修本에서 「ゆく」와 「帰る」가 나타나는 것과 「来る」가 모두 「参る」로 개수된 것이다. 또한 「おしらる, 御 目に掛かる, いづ(出づ), くだる(下る), ござる」 와 같은 関連語와 「別語」가 「参る」로 개수가 이루어졌다. 개수의 배경은 대화 내용을 보다 명확하게 하기 위해서 개수되었으며, 品位있는 武家의 언어표현의 영향으로 한자어와 「参る」로 개수가 많이 나타났다. 인물의 지위, 화제, 통역관과 관련이 있는 移動動詞는 대화 내용에 보다 더 적합한 단어로 개수가 이루어졌으며, 일본어의 変遷過程과 당시를 반영한 武家의 독특한 表現様式으로 변화되는 것을 알 수 있었다.
