In order to understand the culture of one country, the most important thing is to understand the both of universality and particularity of the country.Because one can make a mistake which determines the overall without comprehension of cultural background knowledge through a fragmentary knowledge.Especially the acceleration of globalization of culture in these days, we have to present the objective cultural information to accept other culture with open mind, and we need to have a systematic Japanese cultural training which can widen the interest of width and target in variety field.In addition, even in higher education, in the 7th revised curriculum, the importance of culture education is emphasized and also is prepared a curriculum of Japanese culture.In this paper, in order to grasp the condition of Japanese culture education in university which has a curriculum of Japanese culture, the materials which are used in university liberal arts are analyzed on the basis of the Finocchiaro, Bononmo and Chastain classification criteria, and each materials of the goal are searched by which factors and which aspects are dealt with the cultural information about Japanese culture.

한 나라의 문화를 바로 이해하기 위해서는 무엇보다도 그 나라의 보편성과 특수성을 함께 이해하는 것이 중요하다. 문화적 배경지식에 대한 이해 없이 단편적인 지식만으로 전체를 판단해버리는 오류를 범할 수 있기 때문이다. 특히 문화의 세계화가 가속화 되고 있는 오늘날에는 타문화를 열린 마음으로 받아들일 수 있도록 객관적인 문화내용을 제시해야하며, 다양한 분야에까지 관심의 폭과 대상을 넓혀 가는 체계적인 일본 문화 교육이 필요하다. 또한 고등교육에 있어서도 제7차 개정 교육과정에서는 문화교육의 중요성을 강조하고 있으며, 일본문화도 교육과정 항목을 마련하는 등 중요시하고 있다. 본고는 대학에서 교양 일본문화 관련 수업에서 하고 있는 일본문화 교육의 실태를 파악하기 위하여 대학 교양과목으로서 사용되고 있는 일본문화 교재를 Finocchiaro and Bononmo와Chastain의 분류기준에 의거하여 분석하며, 일본문화에 관한 문화내용을 어떠한 항목과 어떠한 측면에서 다루고 있는지를 중심으로 각 교재의 추구하는 내용에 대해서 알아보고자 한다.
