This paper examines the potential usability of 『Bogam(寶鑑)』 as research material for linguistic history. The study particularly focuses on the Japanese-Korean translation materials in the early 20th century such as 『Chosunchongdokbugwanbo(朝鮮總督府官報)』 and 『Ilmunyeokbeob (日文譯法)』. The paper discusses the effectiveness of 『Bogam』 in the investigation of the use of vocabularies among the public at the time being and the characteristics of their written style through verification based on various dictionaries and 『Dokribsinmun(獨立新聞)』. As a result, it was confirmed that debates related to the written style or status of the Korean language in the early 20th century is possible by referring to the description method of 『Bogam』. Based on this, the paper clarifies that confirming whether there was an attempt to enhance the readability of Japanese-Korean translation materials during the process of translating Japanese language into Korean language at the time being is a core discussion point. The study also mentions that more detailed studies are required that can address this point.

본고는 『보감』의 언어사 연구자료로서의 활용가능성에 대해 고찰한 것이다. 특히 『조선총독부관보』나 『일문역법』과 같은 20세기 초 일한대역자료들과의 관련성에 주목하는데, 각종 사전류 및 『독립신문』에 기초한 검증 등을 통해 당대 언중들의 어휘사용 및 그 문체적 특징에 대한 인식을 밝히고자 할 때 『보감』이 어느 정도의 유효성을 확보하는지에 관해 논의했다. 그 결과, 먼저 『보감』의 기술 방식을 참조하면 20세기 초 한국어의 문체나 위상과 관련한 논의가 가능하다는 점을 확인했다. 또한 이를 바탕으로, 당대 일한대역자료들에서 일본어를 한국어로 옮기는 단계에서 가독성을 높이기 위한 시도가 있었는지의 여부를 확인하는 것이 핵심적인 논의 사항으로 대두된다는 점을 밝히고, 이를 고려한 보다 정밀한 후속 연구가 요청된다는 점을 언급했다.
