In this paper, about the four works which belong to the Japanese lost war period among the Kawabata Yasunari's tenohirano-shosetus, the literary properties and the influential relations to the author's later works are examined. In Silver coin of 50-sen, the lives before and after the war being compared, the nostalgia for the lives before the war and the preciousness of the survived lives are depicted, illuminating the desires of Me and Mother for the objects. In A bamboo-leaf boat, Akiko who was engaged in the war time thinks that it might be by the emotion by the war that she dared to dream to marry even as her being a lamed in the reality of her fiance not coming back home. In Camelia, the society is pictured that was back to the secure daily lives with suddenly increasing pregnancies and births after the end of the war. A collar is describing vividly the fear of the main character, being assumed the author himself who had already back to his daily life, of the possible next war. Examining these works, the tenohirano-shosetus by Kawabata are calmy depicting the course of recovering the daily lives from the shocks of the war-lost in which the past of the Kawabata's literature is reminded and the moment quietly appears. Also, it was possible in this paper to note the influences on the author's later works from the relations with A Dancer, one of the works at the same phase.

가와바타 야스나리의 패전기 손바닥 소설 중, 패전의 상황, 작가의 패전에 대한 의식이 함축된 네 작품을 고찰했다. 가와바타의 전후는 패전의 충격을 토로하는 것에서 시작되었다(「애수」 등). 이러한 패전에 대한 ‘부(負)’적 감정은 여러 가지 모습으로 드러난다. 「50전 은화」에서는 전쟁 이전의 생활과 패전 이후의 상황을 대비시키며, 전쟁 이전에 대한 그리움, 살아남은 생명의 소중함을 그려내었다. 「나뭇잎 배」에서는 전쟁이 끝났으나 약혼자가 돌아오지 않는 아키코를 중심으로 아키코에게 있어서 전쟁은 무엇이었는가. 상식보다 특수한 상황이 통용되었던 것은 전쟁의 감상(感傷)이었을까하고 생각한다. 「산다화」에서는 전쟁이 끝나자 갑자기 늘어난 임신과 출산으로 패전이기는 했지만 전쟁이 끝났음이 일반인에게 주는 평온함, 일상으로의 회복, 그리고 평화에 대한 갈구가 드러난 작품으로 볼 수 있을 것이다. 「목줄」은 이미 일상으로 돌아온 주인공의 개에 얽힌 가정 내의 일상사를 그려내면서, 결말에서 다음에 있을 전쟁에 대한 공포를 생생하게 드러내고 있었다. 이러한 작품들을 살펴보았을 때, 가와바타에게 있어서 패전기 손바닥 소설은 패전의 충격에서 일상을 회복해 가는 과정을 그려내고 있으며, 그 안에는 가와바타 문학의 과거, 현재가 회상되었고, 「무희」와의 연관성을 통해 후기 작품으로의 영향도 지적할 수 있었다.
