This research paid attention to the point that there are tales regarding sexual intercourse between men and pigs in Okinawa, differently from the mainland of Japan. This research investigated the development process of the tale based on the concrete case analysis of tale included in Okinawa tale collection book. First, this research pointed out that the existing research method is not meaningful, which discussed by classifying into the type of two species marriage story, e.g. and . The two types did not show remarkable difference in their narrative structure, rather there was a necessity to pay attention to the point why such marriage relationship between human and pig is not valid. Second, in this regard, based on the existing theoretical outcome of the characteristic of Japanese two species marriage story, this research explained from the viewpoint of the daily aspect of pig, as the livestock which lives with human, and the lack of absolute divineness, due to this. Third, pig of Okinawa in the tale was recognized as the spiritual being which can partly change, while its absolute divinness was not acknowledged. Due to this point, it was concluded that the pig was killed at the end in most of the tales related to sexual relationship between human and pig.

일본의 동물설화에는 다양한 동물들이 등장한다. 그 중에서도 설화에 자주 등장하는 동물들은 유형화가 가능할 정도로 한정되어 있다. 동물들이 거주하는 세계와 인간사회와의 공간적 거리, 등장동물의 신격화 가능 여부, 인간에 대한 위해성 등에 따라서 등장동물이 제한되기 때문이다. 이들 설화에 등장하는 특정한 동물들은 다양한 방식으로 인간과 교섭을 한다. 이른바 이류혼인이라 부르는 인간과 동물 사이의 혼인관계는 그 대표적인 경우이다. 본고에서는 일본 본토와는 달리 오키나와에 인간과 돼지의 성적 교섭관계에 관한 설화가 전해 지고 있음을 주목하였다. 오키나와설화집에 수록된 설화의 구체적인 사례 분석에 근거하여 그 설 화적 전개과정을 고찰하였다. 첫째 <돼지사위 맞이하기>와 <돼지 아내>라는 이류혼인담의 유형으로 분류하여 논의하는 기 존의 연구방법이 그다지 중요한 의미가 없음을 지적하였다. 두 유형은 그 서사구조에 있어서 두드 러진 차이를 발견할 수 없으며, 오히려 왜 인간과 돼지 사이에 혼인관계가 성립하지 않는지를 주목 할 필요가 있었기 때문이다. 둘째 이 점에 관해서 일본의 이류혼인담의 특징에 대한 기존의 이론적 성과를 참고로 하여, 인 간과 같이 생활하는 가축으로서의 돼지의 일상적 측면, 이로 인한 절대적인 신성의 결핍이라는 관 점에서 설명하였다. 셋째 설화에 등장하는 오키나와의 돼지는 절대적인 신성이 인정되지 않으나, 부분적으로 둔갑 할 수 있는 능력을 지닌 영적인 존재로 인식되었다. 이 점으로 인해서 인간과 돼지의 성적 교섭에 관한 설화에서 대부분 마지막에 돼지를 살해하는 것으로 결말이 난다. 본고에서는 그 이유를 영성을 지닌 돼지의 위해성이라는 관점에서 해석하였다.
