초록

영어

This peper aims to explain how to find a clue about differences between men and women in colloquial language in Japanese. We will examine the definition between men and women in terms of different expressions based on the past studies, the suffixes being used by different genders, and people learning Japanese or native Japanese speakers’ awareness of recognizing different genders. We can find the current usage of suffixes by different genders is differ from the past studies, a reduction of language of different genders, and a reduction of female language in women. The current Japanese native speakers are more likely to share the same suffixes. The suffixes being used in textbooks are almost the same as the past studies which are traditional and stereotype. And the suffixes being used in TV drama and novels tend to have the both traditional and current usage of the suffixes. Yet, those suffixes being used in textbooks, TV drama, and novels are fairly different from an actual conversation. However, it is necessary to take attention to the meaning and function of the suffixes being used in TV drama and novels because these suffixes are actually being heard in real life.
