The purpose of this study is to analyze research regarding researches of elementary and secondary teachers' retirement in South Korea from 2000 to 2017 in order to understand the phenomenon of retirement and to suggest necessary future research. RISS provided by Korea Educational and Scientific Information Service (KERIS) was used for data collection. A total of 37 research were selected from 19 dissertation theses and 18 journals articles. The following five research subjects were found: ➀understanding of lives of retired teachers, ➁awareness of retirement preparation education for current teachers, ➂analysis on honorary retirement, ➃awareness of retirement and retirement preparation for current teachers, and ➄suggestion of policy and programs of utilization of retirees. In the discussion, necessary future research subjects, methods of social contribution activities of retired teachers, and implementation of retirement preparation education for current teachers were suggested.

본 연구는 교사의 퇴직과 관련한 현상을 이해하고 보다 바람직한 퇴직 교사 지원 방안을 마련하기 위해 2000년에서 2017년 사이에 국내에서 진행된 초·중등 교사를 대상으로 한 퇴직과 관련한 연구물을 분석하였다. 자료수집을 위해 한국교육학술정보원(KERIS)에서 제공하는 RISS가 활용되었으며, 자료수집 결과 학위 논문 19편, 학술지 논문 18편의 총 37편의 연구물이 선정되었다. 연구의 주제는 총 5개가 선정되었는데, ‘퇴직한 교사의 삶에 대한 탐구’가 가장 많았으며(32.4%), 그 다음으로 ‘현직 교사들의 퇴직준비교육에 대한 인식’(24.3%), ‘명예(중도) 퇴직 관련 연구’(16.2%), ‘현직 교사들의 퇴직 및 퇴직준비에 대한 인식’(13.5%), ‘퇴직자 인력활용 방안에 관한 연구’(13.5%)순으로 나타났다. 논의 사항에서는 활동이론에 입각하지 않은 퇴직 관련 연구 및 인식 제고의 필요성, 교사들의 자발적 퇴직준비 및 사회공헌 활동 방안 마련, 경력개발의 일환으로의 퇴직준비교육 실시, 교사의 다양성을 고려한 퇴직관련 연구의 필요성을 제시하였다.
