The purpose of this research is to investigate fundamental elements of aroma therapy education, and based on this, proposing essential character for Conceptualization of aromatherapy education,10 research candidates such are 5 professors in beauty care at universities and 5 aroma therapy instructors with over 10years of experience, retained data is analysed with a method of constant comparison analysis. Conceptualization of Aromatherapy education is classified in two categories. this research draw a conclusion from 4 concepts of education such as Medical concept, Academic concept, Integrating concept, Individual concept, and also 6 component for educational such as System of Education, Time, Knowledge, Macroscopic Discrimination, Counselling, Clinical Care. This research suggests significant starting point of domestic research for Conceptualization of aromatherapy education, assisting to understand the essence of aromatherapy education Conceptualization, contributes to prepare rationale for desirable aromatherapy education and direction in future.

이 연구의 목적은 아로마테라피 교육을 개념화하고, 이를 토대로 아로마테라피 교육의 필요 구성 요소가 무엇인지 규명하여 아로마테라피 교육의 본질적 특성을 제시하였다. 연구대상자는 우리나라 미용대학 교수 5인과 10년 이상의 전문성을 갖춘 아로마테라피 교육 강사 5인, 모두 10인이며 이렇게 확보된 자료는 반복적 비교분석법으로 분석했다. 아로마테라피 교육의 개념화는 크게 두 가지로 분류하여 진행하였고, 연구의 결과로는 교육을 위한 총 4가지 개념으로 메디컬적인 관점, 학문적인 관점, 통합적 관점, 개인적 관점이며, 교육을 위해 필요한 구성 요소로는 총 6가지로, 교육체계, 시간, 지식, 거시적 안목, 카운슬링, 임상적 실천으로 도출되었다. 이 연구는 아로마테라피 교육에 대한 개념화를 규명하고 탐색하는 국내 연구의 시발점을 제시한 것에 큰 의의가 있다고 할 수 있으며, 연구에서 시도하는 아로마테라피 교육 개념화의 본질에 대한 이해를 돕고, 바람직한 아로마테리피 교육 및 미래의 아로마테리피 교육 분야의 방향성을 위한 이론적 근거를 마련하는 데 기여할 것이다.
