본 논문은 선식양생의 개념과, 선식양생의 이론 체계 형성 과정의 탐색을 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 제시한다. 중국 전통문화 속의 先秦 사상 , 중국의 양생 문화 및 식 문화 등은 선식양생이론의 가장 중요한 구성 요소가 되어준다. 특히 선진 사상의 儒家, 道家는 매우 중요한 양생관의 기초가 되어 주었다. 예를들어 『周易』의 ‘居安思危’의 사상은 선식 양생과 맞물려 예방학의 기초가 되었으며, 아울러 선식양생 의 이론체계 발전에 심대한 영향을 주었다. 또한 中醫 양생학은 선식양생 이론의 특색이 되었으며, 중국만의 특유한 이론 체계를 형성케 하였다. 중국의 음식 문화는 줄곧 미각을 추구하는 것을 핵심으로 삼았다. 양생을 목적으로 선식의 목표를 세웠으며, 선식양생으로 하여금 안과 밖이 통일된 예술의 미가 나타나게 하였다. 결국 이것을 토대로 선식양생의 원칙과 방법을 다듬는 방향으로 발전 했다.
