As a rise of multicultural children, students have trouble in adapting to schools. For this reason, the necessity of multicultural education is recognized and many programs are being developed. The purpose of this study is to verify effectiveness after designing and using programs that is focusing on sensitivity between the cultures of elementary school students. Therefore, the multicultural education programs were designed for elementary school students and implied to G elementary school students in Wan-ju-gun to examine the improvement of multicultural sensitivity. Multicultural education was provided as 15 sessions, multicultral experience was taken two days and one night. The total objects of study are 21, the first grade students are 12, and the second grades are 9 among them. They are 11 boys and 10 girls by gender. The multicultural education was conducted with the diversity, relatedness and cultivation of knowledge, function and attitude in universal perspective of the tools for multicultural acceptance from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. Moreover, this study examined whether subitems are improved like culture openness, national identity, stereo type, discrimination, unilateral assimilation expectation, avoidance-evasional emotion, cross-fertilization behavior, dual valuation, world citizen action through comparison of ex ante and ex post survey. Verifying effectiveness after designing and conducting programs to focus on the sensibility between cultures, this study is significant in the aspect that multicultural education improves the sensibility between cultures Conclusion of this study is as below; First, multicultural education makes students understand the diversity and openness of cultures(Diversity). Second, multicultural education makes students think, tell, and act in another’s place(Relatedness). Third, multicultural education makes students understand globalization and emigration, and live together though they are different each other(Universality).

초등학생을 대상으로 한 다문화교육에도 불구하고 다문화에 대한 인식은 크게 향상되지 못하고 있다. 다문화사회에 있어서 초등학생을 대상으로 한 다문화교육 프로그램이 필요하다. 이 연구는 초등학생의 문화 간 감수성에 초점을 둔 프로그램을 개발하고 시행을 한 후 프로그램의 효과성을 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 전북 읍면지역에 있는 G초등학교 학생을 대상으로 다문화 감수성교육프로그램은 운영하였다. 다문화교육프로그램은 15회기과정과 1박 2일 체험교육으로 구성되었다. 프로그램 참여대상은 전체 21명이며 1학년 12명, 2학년 9명으로 구성되어 있다. 성별로는 남학생이 11명, 여학생은 10명이다. 조사도구는 여성가족부의 다문화수용성 검사 도구를 바탕으로 사전사후 분석을 하였다. 본 연구는 초등학생의 다문화감수성에 증진을 위해 프로그램을 개발하고 시행을 한 후 프로그램의 효과성을 분석하여 일반화하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화감수성 교육 프로그램은 다양성과 개방성을 증진시켰다. 둘째, 관계성 영역에 있어서도 프로그램은 효과가 있었다. 셋째, 다문화감수성교육프로그램은 보편성 영역에 있어서도 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과 초등학생을 위한 다문화교육은 일시적인 교육보다는 프로그램을 통한 지속적인 교육이 효과가 있었다. 따라서 초등학생의 다문화교육은 교과와 비교과 활동 뿐 아니라 다양한 체험활동을 통해서 이루어져야 할 것이다.
