The purpose of this study was to trace the path walked by a basketball player for the development of basketball by researching his life histories and had the following results. First, this study learned how he became a basketball player after overcoming many hardships. Second, he became an exemplary basketball player studying and being recognized as a basketball player. Third, he set many milestones in the basketball circle by pursuing the life of a basketball instructor after retiring basketball. Fourth, he had a frontier spirit as he was never satisfied with the status quo in life as an educator. Fifth, he has made continuous efforts into the development of basketball as an administrator. Through this research, we can experience the life of one person who was immersed only into the development of basketball as a national basketball team player, national basketball team coach, educator, and administrator.

이 연구는 농구인으로서의 삶을 살아온 한 개인이 대한민국 농구계의 발전을 위해 걸어온 과정을 살펴보고자 생 애사 연구방법으로 접근을 시도한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 많은 시련을 극복한 후 농구인이 되어가는 과정을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 농구선수로서 인정을 받으며 공부하는 농구선수의 표본이 되었음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 선수 은퇴 후 지도자로서의 삶을 살아가면서 농구계에 많은 이정표를 제시하였다. 넷째, 교육자로서 삶속에서도 현실에 만족하지 않는 개척정신을 알 수 있었다. 다섯째, 행정가로서 농구 발전에 끊임없이 노력하고 있음을 알 수 있었 다. 농구국가 대표 선수와 국가대표팀 감독, 그리고 교육자, 행정가 등을 거치면서 오로지 농구 발전에만 몰두해온 한 사람의 인생을 접할 수 있다.
