Kim, Nam-Cheon(1911-1953?) Created the novel Dae-Ha(A Large River). This book details the social customs of the Enlightenment Period(開化期; 1876-1910). Dae-Ha described many sporting events at that time. This is rare in novels. A sports novel mainly talks about one sport. Kim Nam-cheon's novel, ‘Dae-Ha’ is a family novel. However, ‘Dae-Ha’ describes many sports. Therefore, ‘Dae-Ha’ is an important literary work for finding the sport of the Enlightenment Period. That is, 'Daeha' is valuable as a historical material of the physical education. The sports culture found in "Dae-Ha" is as follows.
