This study deals with the philosophy of liberation in Latin America and the discourse of Sumak Kawsay from the perspective of utopia. In particular, it analyzes the most important concepts such as transmodernity and plurinationality, which stem from Latin American critical thoughts. To uncover the differences or similarities between two discourses, it examines the concept of interculturality through ideological comparison. Transmodernity and plurinationality can be employed both as a transformative tool for the radical change of epistemological paradigm, and as a constructive framework for the socio-political advancement of Latin America. Ultimately, this study provides us with an opportunity of imagining the process of liberating us from the remnants of coloniality.

이 연구는 유토피아의 전망에서 라틴아메리카 해방철학과 수막 카우사이 담론을 다룬다. 특히 이 두 비판 사상의 유사성과 차이점을 파악하기 위해 각 사상의 핵심 개념인 트랜스모더니티와 다민족성을 비교하고, 두 사상과 관계된 상호문화성의 역할도 분석한다. 이를 통해 이런 개념들이 라틴아메리카에서 문명 패러다임의 전환과 더 정의롭고 살기 좋은 세상을 만들기위한 도구로 작동하고 있음을 밝힌다. 또한 이 개념들은 해방과정을 촉진시키고 식민성을 극복하는데 일조하는 유토피아 프로젝트임을 드러낸다.
