The purpose of this study is to know about the work ethics of secondary vocational students majoring in tourism in Shanghai, comparing the differences of work ethics between different genders, different origins as well as among who owing different reasons of major choice. In this study, 443 effective data have been obtained during the period from November to December in 2016, conducted in three schools with high quality of tourism education in Shanghai. According to the statistical analysis, the overall work ethics of secondary vocational students is not very satisfactory. There is no significant difference between male and female. However, in term of “work regulations”, remarkable differences can be found between Shanghainese and Non-Shanghainese students. The reasons for major choice have also a greater impact on work ethics. Work interest affects “work attitude” and “work values” so enormous that there are significant difference and extremely significant difference in the samples. In addition, we have discovered significant differences in “work values” between students who choose the major by themselves and students who were adjusted to the major. It is reported that there is statistical relevance between work ethics and academic records, work interest, major choice.
