This study explores convergence classes using Big Data in social studies. It is planning a convergence classes by utilizing big data analysis in high school politics. Understanding and analyzing big data is the information literacy required in the process of decision making or creating consensus on social or political issues. The big data analysis tools were with Google Trends, R and Social Network Analysis. In the first phase, we confirmed the prediction feasibility by comparing the actual election result with the prediction using the Google trend. In the second phase, the UN Speech of the 14th to 19th President was used for text mining and Word Cloud. Finally, Social Network Analysis visualized the relationship between the presidents based on the results of R analysis. This study confirms the possibility of convergence classes using big data in social studies, especially political subject, rather than right and wrong of analysis result. It is to confirm the possibility through the progress of the 1st – 3rd steps. Systematic teacher training, inter-teacher collaboration, and partnerships are needed for better convergence. In addition, physical, environmental and institutional support from schools and educational authorities is needed.

본 연구는 사회과에서 빅데이터를 활용한 융합수업의 사례를 탐구한다. 고등학교 정치과목에서 빅 데이터 분석을 활용해 융합수업을 도모하는 것이다. 빅데이터의 이해와 분석은 사회적이거나 정치적인 이 슈에 대한 의사결정이나 합의창출 과정에서 필요한 정보활용 능력이다. 융합수업은 기초부터 심화까지 단 계별로 진행했다. 빅데이터 분석 툴은 구글 트렌드와 R 그리고 사회연결망분석이 사용되었다. 1단계는 구글 트렌드를 이용한 예측과 실제 선거 결과를 비교해 예측 타당성을 확인했다. 2단계는 14~19대 대통령의 유엔 연설문을 R을 활용해 텍스트 마이닝하고 워드 클라우드를 만들었다. 끝으로 사회연결망 분석은 R로 분석한 결과를 바탕으로 대통령 간의 관계를 시각화했다. 이 연구는 분석결과의 옳고 그름보다 사회교과 특히 정치 과목에서 빅데이터를 활용한 융합수업의 가능성을 확인하는 것이다. 1~3단계의 수업진행을 통해 그 가능성 을 확인했다. 더 나은 융합수업을 위해 체계적인 교사연수와 교사 간 협업, 그리고 파트너십이 필요하다. 또 한 학교와 교육당국의 물리적, 환경적, 제도적 지원이 절실하다.
