The purpose of this study is to investigate the status-quo and teaching method of the [Economics] class of high school qualitatively. Two [Economics] teachers of academic track high school are interviewed in-depth and are observed participantly. By the result of this study the [Economics] class of Korean high school are heavily influenced by the cultural-institutional environment of the preparation for the Korean SAT, especially in the contents and method of teaching and learning pace. As far as the instructional method concerned we can find the very monotonous instructional method, for example, 'problem-solving after explaining the concept and principle or generalization' and 'example-exposing' method, in the [Economics class] The over-all results and the implication of this study is as follows. (1) The rationale and contents of secondary economic education should be based on the concrete class implementation (2) It is urgently required that the instructional manuals should be developed and distributed on national level. (3) Because the economic knowledge and perspectives of economy and economic education is very important there needs the institutional compliment for increasing the expertise of economic class teachers.

본 연구는 고등학교 경제수업에 대한 질적 연구를 통해 현재 이루어지고 있는 고등학교 경제 수업의 현실과 교수-학습 방법에 대해 파악하고자 한 연구이다. 자료 수집은 인문계 남자 고등학교의 [경제]담당 두 명의 교사를 선정하여 그들의 수업을 참여관찰하고 심층면담의 방법을 통해 이루어졌다. 고등학교 [경제]수업은 ‘수학능력시험 대비’라는 문화적․제도적 환경에 의해 수업의 내용과 방법, 진도 등의 편제 등이 크게 영향을 받고 있었다. 수업에서 교사들이 주로 보이는 교수-학습의 형식은 ‘개념․원리설명 후 문제풀이’였으며, 추상적 내용을 현실과 연결시켜 이해할 수 있는 ‘사례 제시’의 방법을 주로 활용하였다. 즉매우 교사 중심의 단조로운 교수-학습 방법이 적용되고 있었다. 연구의 결과를 통해 시사점을 정리하면 다음과 같다. 먼저, 무엇보다도 교실 현장 의 상황을 기반으로 경제교육의 방향이나 내용이 설정될 필요가 있다는 점이다. 둘째, 국가적 차원에서 학교 경제교육의 교수-학습에 직접적 도움이 되는 수업 자료를 개발․보급하는 것이 필요하며, 셋째, 교사들의 경제관과 내용 지식 및 경제교육에 관한 인식이 무엇보다 중요함으로 [경제] 담당 교사들의 교과 전문성을 향상시킬 수 있는 다양한 제도적 보완이 필요하다는 것이다.
