With the design development of modern society, the international exchanges of culture and art are actively conducted while each country is active to inform its own history and culture to the world. Influenced by this flow, the preciousness of Korean traditional patterns has been newly understood, rather than simple interest of artists in many areas. Out of Korean traditional culture, floral patterns give a huge inspiration to us, so that they are suitably working as a material to produce diverse and creative designs. Traditional patterns clearly express the history or tradition of a country, and also fully show the unique traditionality and symbolism of its culture. Korean traditional patterns inherit the meaning in the direction of the national history. Therefore, developing/researching the characteristics of traditional patterns would be expanded to new areas just like diverse types of design ideas. Through the theoretical consideration, this study considered a work expressing creative art design combined with hair art by recycling waste hair through the background of meanings, symbolism, and formativeness of floral patterns. It focused on literature research like preceding theses, internet data, books, and relevant books. Through the results of this study, the symbolic meanings and traditionality of floral patterns were understood as Korean traditional patterns while the work combined with hair art by recycling waste hair was considered as a creative and practical design expression. Also, this work is expected to work as a vehicle of research/development for the creation of designs that could be used for diverse exhibits and hair art in many areas. There should be continuous researches on in-depth hair art for the development of creative art designs and expression methods of new materials, by expanding the interest in Korean traditional patterns and the range of use of hair art design.

현대사회의 디자인 발달은 문화와 예술이 국제적으로 활발하게 교류가 이루어지고 있으 며, 그 나라들의 역사와 문화를 세계에 알리고자 적극적인 태도를 보여주고 있다. 이러한 흐름에 영향을 받아 한국 전통문양은 여러 분야의 예술가와 작가들의 단순한 관심이 아닌 예전과 다른 전통문화의 소중함이 재인식 되어지고 있다. 한국 전통문화 중에서도 꽃문양은 우리에게 거대한 영감을 주고 있으므로 독창적이고 다양한 디자인을 제작할 수 있는 소재로 알맞게 작용하고 있다. 전통문양은 그 나라의 역사나 전통이 뚜렷하게 표현되고 있으며, 그 문화가 가지고 있는 고유의 전통성과 상징성이 잘 나타나고 있다. 한국의 전통문양은 한 민족 역사의 방향으로 의미를 계승하고 있다. 따라서 전통문양의 특성을 개발 연구하는 것은 다양한 형태의 디자인 발상과 같이 새로운 분야로 넓혀 갈 것이라고 본다. 본 연구에서는 이론적 고찰을 통해 꽃문양이 담고 있는 의미와 상징성, 조형성의 배경을 통한 폐 모발을 재활용하여 헤어아트와 결합한 창의적인 아트디자인을 표현한 작품을 고찰하였다. 연구방법으로는 선행논문, 인터넷 자료, 단행본과 관련서적 등 문헌연구를 중심으로 참고하여 연구하였다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 통해 한국 전통문양 은 꽃문양의 상징적인 의미와 전통성에 대하여 이해할 수 있으며, 이를 폐 모발을 재활용 하여 헤어아트에 접목한 작품은 창의적이고 실용적인 디자인표현으로 고찰되었다. 또한, 이 작품이 여러 분야에서 다양한 전시물과 헤어아트로 이용할 수 있는 디자인의 창작 연구 개발의 매개물 역할이 될 수 있으리라 사료되며, 한국 전통문양에 대한 관심과 헤어 아트디자인에 이용의 폭을 넓혀 새로운 소재의 표현기법과 독창적인 아트디자인 개발을 위한 깊이 있는 헤어아트의 연구가 지속적으로 이루어지길 바란다.
