Due to the 4th industrial revolution and the development of mass media, professions in the occupation are becoming more detailed and specialized. Art make-up of performing arts and development of creative make-up design are required as a key element of performance stage. The purpose of this research paper is to analyze the various patterns of make-up in the Cirque Du Soleil, and to provide design correlation and basic data of creative art make-up. In this study, color conversion convergence color was captured by capturing images of relevant DVD data and MRY value of color was measured by using an eyedropper(the UCRI) tool. And the research was based on previous research records, DVD and internet site. Touring performances, regular performances, recorded video, TV series and documentary media forms have been selected and existed to present Cirque Du Soleil show to audiences. By analyzing the make-up design characteristics of ‘Quidam,’ ‘O’, ‘Varekai’ and ‘Dralion’ which are the shows presented after “Quidam” performed in 1996, image of the specialized characters in Cirque Du Soleil are classified as follow. Coexistence image of East and West of multiculturalism, surrealism form that expressing infinite imagination and unconscious world with expansion of non-realistic world, and circus’s jest nature of fun and pleasant motif shows wit and tact by applying make-up of comedy genre. Additionally, smoky make-up includes goth, which emphasizes the image dark tone, the sensuality that expresses human eroticism, and the strangeness of the distorted image that is shown by the mixture of animals and humans. According to the results of the pattern analysis of make-up, the white and black are exaggerated horizontally and vertically to expose the explicit effect through the achromatic separation technique. Experimental pattern is not limited to the basic outline or skeleton of the human body and provides noticeable attention and visible cognition to the audiences; therefore, it is analyzed that the experimental pattern is very effective way to utilize characteristics.

4차 산업혁명과 미디어의 발달로 전문분야는 더욱 세분화되고 있으며 공연예술의 아트메 이크업은 무대예술의 중요한 요소로써 창조적인 메이크업 디자인의 발전이 요구된다. 태양의 서커스(Cirque du Soleil)작품은 순회공연, 상설공연, 영상물, TV시리즈와 다큐 멘터리 형식이 있으며 1996년 “퀴담”공연 이후 현재까지 작품 중 ‘퀴담’, ‘오’, ‘바레카이’ 와 ‘드랄리온’ 등의 분석된 메이크업 디자인 특성과 특별한 캐릭터 이미지는 다음과 같다. 동,서양 다문화성의 공존이미지, 비현실적 세계의 확장으로 무한한 상상력과 무의식 세 계를 표현하는 초현실주의 형식, 그리고 서커스라는 유쾌하고 즐거운 모티브의 해학성을 주어 희극적 요소의 메이크업으로 위트를 보여준다. 그 외 스모키 메이크업은 어두운 계열이 주는 색조의 이미지를 강조한 고스, 인간의 에로티즘을 표현한 관능성, 동물과 인간의 혼용으로 보여주는 일그러진 모습의 괴이성 등이다. 연구방법은 관련 DVD자료를 조사하여 캡쳐한 영상, 선행 연구문헌과 인터넷 사이트를 찾아 메이크업의 패턴과 특성분석을 하였다. 메이크업 패턴의 분석 결과는 화이트와 블랙을 과장되게 수평적, 수직적으로 확대하여 전체적으로 무채색의 세퍼레이션(Separation) 기법을 통한 명시적 효과를 나타내고 있다. 실험적 패턴은 인체의 기본적 윤곽이나 골격 에 국한 되지 않았으며 간결하고 멀리서도 눈에 띄는 주목성을 주어 관객에게 가시적인 인식을 높여 등장인물이나 배역의 특징을 살리는데 매우 효과적인 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구는 태양의 서커스(Cirque du Soleil)에 나타난 메이크업의 다양한 패턴을 분석함 으로써 창작 아트메이크업의 디자인적 연관성 및 관련된 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다.
