As the modern society is in the age of globalization, the whole world is integrated into a single market, and open cultural exchanges and convergences become natural phenomena. Especially, Korean traditional culture is modernly reinterpreted into new images in various fields, which helps sustain traditional beauty and give wider publicity to the aesthetic value of our tradition. Thus, by creating hair artworks with Korean traditional fans used as motifs, reinterpreting Korean traditional culture modernly, extending the range of creation and proving the aesthetic value of Korean traditional fans, this study aims to enhance the development and value of hair art. Prior to producing hair artworks, this study arranged the theoretical characteristics of Korean traditional fans by reviewing previous studies and materials regarding the existing products manufactured by using Korean traditional fans as motifs. Then, out of all the Korean traditional fans, this study selected 5 kinds and produced hair artworks based on them. For the production of hair artworks, this study embodied the beauty of fans with flowers, and presented the hair artworks by applying different meanings in the language of flowers. Various hair-pieces in color were used to present Korean traditional fans as hair artworks, cubic zirconia was used to emphasize the splendor of flowers, and the traditional beauty became more prominent through hair-wear produced with hair-pieces. The results of this study imply that not only can the beauty of Korean traditional fans be applied as a creative and original motif in the field of hair art when it is modernly reinterpreted, but other Korean traditional household items have potential to be used as creative hair artworks. It is anticipated that there will be more creative and individual-style hair artworks that express Korean traditional culture in a modern way when further studies are conducted on hair-colors or hair-cuts with Korean traditional fans used as motifs.

현대사회는 전 세계가 하나의 시장으로 통합된 세계화 시대로 문화의 교류가 자유롭고 문화의 융합 역시 자연스러운 현상이 되고 있다. 다양한 분야에서 전통 문화를 현대적으 로 재해석하여 새로운 이미지로 창출하고 있으며 이를 통해 전통적인 아름다움을 지키고 우리 전통의 미학적 가치를 널리 알릴 수 있는 기회가 되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 전통적인 부채를 모티브로 하여 헤어아트 작품을 창작하고 이를 통해 전통 문화를 현대적 으로 재해석하여 창작의 범위를 넓히고 부채의 미학적 가치를 증명하여 헤어아트의 발전 과 가치를 높이는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 연구방법은 제작에 앞서 부채를 모티브로 한 선행연구와 자료 등을 연구하여 부채의 이론적 특성을 정리하고 다양한 부채 중 전통의 아름다움을 표현할 수 있는 다섯 가지 부채를 선정하여 작품제작을 하였다. 작품 제작에 있어 부채의 아름다움을 꽃으로 형상화하였으며 꽃이 가진 각각의 꽃말을 응용하여 작품 을 연출하였다. 부채를 헤어아트 작품으로 연출하기 위하여 다양한 컬러의 모발피스를 이용하여 작품을 제작하였으며 꽃의 화려함을 더욱 강조하기 위해 큐빅을 이용하였고 헤어피스로 제작한 가채를 통해 전통적인 아름다움을 돋보였다. 이를 통해 부채가 가진 전통적인 아름다움은 헤어아트 연구에 있어 전통적인 미를 현대적으로 창안하여 독창적 이고 창의적인 모티브로 응용될 수 있을 뿐 아니라 부채가 아닌 타 전통 생활용품들이 창조적인 헤어아트 작품이 될 수 있는 잠재력이 있음을 시사하였다. 후속 연구에서 전통 적인 부채를 모티브로 한 헤어컬러 연구 또는 헤어커트 연구가 진행된다면 전통을 현대적 으로 표현한 독창적이고 개성 있는 작품이 많이 보여 질 것으로 사료된다.
