As various types of information and new cultures become prevalent fast due to rapid development of modern society, people's aesthetic level is also improved. While the level has been improved from the level that people imitate others' styles to the level that emphasizes individuality, hair style functions as the method of an aesthetic value that highlights their own individuality. To keep up with the improved aesthetic level, creative and new haircut styles should be studied. This study was intended to research creative and new styles with the motif of the art deco art patten, the art trend. The study considered the theoretical background and characteristics of the art deco art patten based on precedent studies, reference literature and related books. With the motives of geometric patterns, lines and forms, and loud colors, which are the common characteristics of the art deco art patten, new haircut designs would be suggested. The result of the study indicated that with the motives of the characteristics of the art patten, the characteristics could be emphasized, and new haircut designs could be reinterpreted. The study implies that more studies on art patterns should be performed, and more realistic designs are needed.

현대사회의 급격한 발달로 인하여 다양한 정보들과 새로운 문화들이 빠르게 확산되 어 가면서 사람들의 미적수준 또한 향상되는 추세이다. 과거 타인의 스타일을 모방하 는 수준에서 현대에는 자신의 개성을 표현하는 수준으로 향상된 가운데, 자신의 개성 을 중요시 하는 미적가치의 표현방법으로 헤어스타일이 하나의 요소로 표현되고 있 다. 사회의 발달과 함께 향상된 미적수준에 부합하기 위하여 창의적이고 새로운 헤어 커트스타일이 연구되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 예술 사조인 아르데코의 예술양식을 모티브로 하여 창의적이고 새로운 스타일을 연구함을 목적으로 하였다. 아르데코 예 술양식의 이론적 배경과 특성에 대하여 선행연구와 참고문헌, 관련 서적 등을 중심으 로 고찰하였으며, 아르데코 예술양식의 공통적 특성인 기하학적 패턴, 선과 형, 화려 한 색채를 모티브로 삼아 새로운 헤어커트디자인을 제시하고자 한다. 연구를 실시한 결과 예술 사조의 특성을 모티브로 하여 커트 디자인에 그 특징을 살려 새로운 커트 디자인으로 재해석 될 수 있음을 알았다. 제안점으로는 앞으로는 예술사조에 대한 연 구가 더 많이 실행되어지고 더욱이 현실성이 있는 디자인이 필요할 것이라 생각된다.
