As the traditional pattern of Korea is the product of our national culture, it is the aesthetic-consciousness expression containing the life custom, the emotion, the religion, and the devotional meaning and shows the history of nation. Therefore researching and developing the characteristics of the traditional pattern can be the element that can lead to the consumers' interest with the development of the diverse designs. Recently, there is a tendency that the interest about the traditional pattern is increasing in beauty field. This contains the historical background of the nation and period. Most of patterns in our country are those that have introduced from China. However, in the process of development, the traditional pattern of Korea was recreated as the new form through combining our life culture with the characteristic mode different from Chinese pattern. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to discover the new modern image by examining the origin and historical background of Korean traditional pattern, by establishing the new modern image in Korean traditional pattern, and by integrating it into hair design. As the research method, this researcher organized the theoretical background on the basis of the prior theses relevant to the traditional patterns, classified the traditional patterns into the plant, animal, and other patterns according to the shape based on "Comparison and Analysis Study on the traditional patterns of Korea and China" Fu San San(2008), embodied the image of this pattern, and produced the work combined with the Up-style technique. This researcher tries to pursue the diversification of the creativity and formativeness by manufacturing the Up-style of the new form grafted the traditional patterns onto the modern senses and techniques. And it is expected that this work production will be considered to be the medium of the new design development to satisfy the various consumers' and hair artists' needs and, by extension, will help the development of the beauty field in Korea.

한 나라의 국기는 민족성의 소산으로 역사, 문화, 사상이 스며들어 있는 미의식의 상 징이며 자긍심의 표상이다. 대내적으로는 애국심을 고취하고 대외적으로는 한 나라의 이미지를 만들기도 한다. 대한민국의 국민이라면 누구나 태극기에 국민정신과 민족정 기가 서려있다는 것에 공감할 것이다. 그럼에도 대내외적인 화려한 무대에서 태극기 가 계양된다는 것은 분위기에 역행한다는 이미지를 주기도 한다. 하지만 컨 셉이 비 슷하고 무대에 적합한 디자인의 태극기를 활용한다면 졸업 작품전시회나 헤어 쑈 무 대 등에서 태극기의 활용도를 높일 수 있다. 태극기의 태극문양과 건곤감리 4괘를 모 티브로 삼아 OMC 헤어월드의 환타지 헤어스타일처럼 화려한 작품을 만들었다. 작품 은 폐모발을 주로 사용하였으며, 폐모발에 염색을 더하여 헤어피스를 만든 후 헤어스 타일을 응용해 태극기를 제작하였다. 태극기 작품의 고유한 구조성과 조형성으로 인 해 헤어아트 디자인에 독특한 디자인 매개체 역할과 환타지 헤어스타일을 이용한 헤 어아트의 인식을 변화시키는데 도움이 될 것 이다. 작품제작의 시간적 제한과 태극기 의 형태를 환타지 헤어스타일로 옮기는 형태적 제한이 있었으나, 무대용 작품으로 제 작되는 과정을 통해 헤어디자인과 환타지 헤어스타일에 대한 새로운 디자인계획을 가질 수 있으리라 기대한다.
