This article explained the features of Shin Heum(申欽)'s ji(記) style works through analysis. Shin Heum's ji style works clearly shows his artist's personality, and it can be said that it is highly valuable as a sample showing the new changes of ji style prose of the mid-Joseon Dynasty. The results of the search are summarized as follows. First, his works used various rhetorical techniques to train the wording, thereby highlighting themes. In addition, he utilized various methods such as the use of various techniques and the conversion of sentences. Second, he revealed his transcendental views on outing and retirement through various discussions, especially used the logic of I Ching(易經) and ideology of Taoism. This is also the result of the fact that the literature of mid-Joseon Dynasty has changed from the existing ones.

이 논문에서 필자는 象村 申欽의 기문에 대한 실제 분석을 통해 그 특징적 면모를 해명하였다. 신흠의 기문은 신흠의 작가적 개성을 뚜렷이 보여주는 동시에 조선중기 기문의 새로운 변모 양상을 보여주는 표본으로서도 가치가 높다고 할 수 있다. 탐색의 결과는 아래와 같이 요약된다. 첫째, 다양한 수사 기법을 활용하여 자구를 단련하고, 이를 통해 주제를 부각시켰다. 뿐만 아니라 다채로운 전고의 활용, 行文의 전환 등을 다양하게 활용하였다. 이러한 사실을 ｢樂民樓記｣, ｢崇賢書院記｣ 등의 작품에 대한 분석을 통해 확인하였다. 둘째, 다양한 議論을 통해 자신의 출처관을 드러냈다. 구체적으로 ｢穿井記｣의 경우는 易理를 풀이하는 방법을 통해 자신의 초월적 출처관을 보여주었고, ｢寄齋記｣에서 老壯 思想을 통해 인생의 고난에 대한 초월 의지를 보여주었다. 이는 조선 중기 기문이 기존의 투식에서 벗어나 새로이 변화하는 모습이 반영된 결과이기도 하다. 한편으로 이들 작품들에서는 자구 단련을 통한 배비구가 빈번히 사용되고 있는데, 이는 기문뿐만 아니라 신흠 산문에서 일반적으로 드러나는 특징적 면모라 해도 무리가 없을 것이다.
