The research sought to explore the value of archery as a human culture by grasping the meaning of the human spirit associated with archery. The archery is a treasure house of homogeneous thought, and is a treasure house of humanity with an intact identity of the body and soul. The humanities, which was established through archery, displayed that the words " myeophone " and " jeree, " which can contribute positively even in the pursuit of personal improvement and establishment of relations with others. The human spirit inherent in archery suggests that it can still cultivate the virtue of suppressing desire and being human. Based on data on archery in the classical world, the team summarized the humanistic mind into four frameworks. First, he looked at the meaning of archery which tests human character, not at physical skill and strength, by emphasizing fighting with an emphasis on non-contest archery. Secondly, the notion of a portrait of a person who could not separate art from personality was explored in the word " Gunja Bunko. " Third, the spirit of raising a hemisphere is the reason why archery became a source of concern to the audience. Fourth, we have examined the meaning of harmony and harmony by archery. Bow shooting is a practice that engenders examples and virtues into the body and is a practice. A man of good faith is reborn as a man of perfect character and the image of a superior man who brings others together, and opens the way for symbiotic coexistence without argument.

본 稿는 성현들이 傳하는 활쏘기와 관련된 인문정신의 의미를 파악하여 인간문화로서 활쏘기의 가치를 탐색하고자 하였다. 활쏘기에는 동양사상의 集合體라 해도 지나치지 않을 만큼, 신체와 정신문화의 정체성이 온전하게 전승되고 있는 인문정신의 寶庫이다. 활쏘기를 통해 전승되는 인문정신은 개인의 인격향상을 도모하고 나아가 타인과의 관계맺음에서도 긍정적으로 기여할 수 있는 儀‧禮가 온전히 전승되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 활쏘기에 내 재된 인문정신은 아직도 욕구의 절제와 인간됨의 미덕을 함양할 수 있음을 암시하고 있다. 고전에서 활쏘기를 매개로 전해지는 자료를 바탕으로 인문 정신을 크게 네 가지의 틀로 요약해 보았다. 먼저 다툼이 없는 활쏘기를 강조한 ‘無所爭’을 통해 투쟁심을 고취하 는 육체적인 기능과 힘의 과시가 아닌, 인간의 덕성을 시험하는 활쏘기의 의미를 살펴보았다. 둘째로 온전한 인간상으로서 기예와 인격이 분리되지 않는 인간상을 ‘君子不器’를 통해 그 의미를 탐색하였다. 셋째, 자기반성 의 차원에서 활쏘기가 수신의 要諦가 됨을 ‘反求諸己’의 정신으로 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 활쏘기를 통한 조화와 화합의 의미를 살펴보았다. 활을 쏘는 행위는 禮와 德을 몸에 체화시키는 수련 과정이며 善을 실천하는 공부이다. 善이 체화된 인간은 다른 사람을 함께 세워주고, 다툼 없이 공생공존의 길 을 여는 군자의 모습, 온전한 인격을 함양한 인간으로 거듭나게 된다.
