A refitted artifact puzzle, a compounded word of ‘refitted artifact’ and ‘puzzle’, is recognized as the historical legacy that reflects a cognitive system, life style, and lithic technology in the Paleolithic period. In an attempt to broaden educational aspects of lithic cultures, the present study developed the experience program in which students can acquire cultural values by the use of a puzzle game. Specifically, we classified the cultural contents of lithic technology systems in the Paleolithic period into three different stages of the program: a ‘Choper Tool Puzzle’ at the elementary level, a ‘Handaxe Puzzle’ at the middle school level, and a ‘Blade Tool Puzzle’ at the high school or adult level. From a socio-cognitive perspective, the culports (culture+sports) program using a refitted artifacts puzzle provides a social place where students can engage in a self-direct learning. More importantly, such a culports program can help students empower traditional classrooms by providing an opportunity to interact with their peers under the learner-centered environment. In this respect, the current cultural study, coupled with culports, is expected to gradually extend its discipline beyond history education and the range of target students. Thus, the successful implementation of the proposed program can contribute to overcoming an encapsulated teaching approach in traditional classrooms by supplying an alternative means to accumulate cultural assets even under the current schooling system.

접합석기 퍼즐은 접합석기와 퍼즐의 합성어이다. 구석기시대 접합석기는 그 당시 사람들의 인지체계와 인류의 특성 및 석기제작 문화가 내포되어 있는 유물이다. 이를 교육적 기능과 효과가 뛰어난 퍼즐에 접목시키면 다양한 교육적 효과를 기대할 수 있을 것이라 생각한다. 우리나라 구석기시대 석기제작과정에서 확인되는 문화내용을 바탕으로 접합석기 퍼즐을 총 3단계로 나누어 프로그램을 구성해보고자 한다. 초등학교 저학년단계의 찍개접합 퍼즐, 초등학교 고학년 및 중학생 단계의 주먹도끼접합 퍼즐, 고등학생과 성인 단계의 돌날몸돌접합 퍼즐로 구성된다. 접합석기 퍼즐을 활용한 컬포츠 프로그램은 학생 중심의 교수접근(Learner-centered Teaching Approach)과 인지사회론(socio-cultural perspective)등의 교육학적 이론을 배경으로 하고 있다. 이를 기반으로 수준별 수업을 통하여 이용자 중심의 학습이 이루질 수 있도록 유도할 수 있다. 컬포츠를 활용한 석기시대문화 교육은 학교교육의 틀 안에서 학생들이 문화적 자산을 쌓아나갈 수 있는 토대를 제공한다고 평가할 수 있다. 또한 컬포츠 기반 문화교육은단지 역사 교육에 국한되지 않고 그 적용 대상과 범위를 확대하며 교실수업의 한계를 극복하는데 기여할 수 있다.
