Domestic defense industry has been growing quantitatively and qualitatively through the government's strong self-reliant defense policy, specialization and systemization system, and intensive investment in research and development. However, since the 1990s, global demand for defense industry has been declining and the specialization and systemization system has been abolished in 2008, the domestic defense industry has entered into an infinite competition system that can survive only through efficient management performance. In this context, this study was conducted with 95 domestic defense industry companies using DEA and Post-DEA(Tier analysis, Tobit analysis) analysis technique to create an objective management evaluation index necessary for a big leap of domestic defense industry. This study conducted empirically relative efficiency, improvement possibility, benchmarking direction and efficiency cause analysis and the results were presented.

국내 방위산업은 정부의 강력한 자주국방정책, 전문화·계열화 제도의 시행 및 연구개발 집중투자를 통해 양적, 질적 성장을 거듭해 왔다. 그러나 1990년대 이후 전 세계적인 방위산업의 수요물량 감소 추세와 2008년 전문화·계열화 제도 폐지로 인해 국내 방위산업은 효율적인 경영성과를 통해서만 살아남을 수 있는 무한경쟁체제에 들어섰다. 이러한 배경 하에서 본 연구는 국내 방위산업의 더 큰 도약을 위해 필요한 객관적인 경영평가지표정립의 계기를 만들고자 DEA 및 Post-DEA(Tier분석, Tobit 분석) 분석 기법을 활용하여 국내 95개 방위산업체를 대상으로 상대적 효율성, 개선 가능치, 벤치마킹 방향 및 효율성 원인분석을 실증적으로 수행하고, 그 결과를 제시하였다.
