This study was intended to examine the effect of adolescents' audience motives on audience attitude and the influence of the audience attitude on adolescents` job choice intention. The researchers conducted the performing arts audience survey in 2004. The subjects were 701 adolescents those who participate "Youth Edutainment Search" program. The 2×3×2 completely randomized design and regression model were applied to the survey data. We observed that, in case of male adolescents, the effect of audience motives on audience attitude for performing arts decreases with age. This result showed that the opportunities to experience performing arts at earlier age are important to form the positive audience attitude and positive job choice for male adolescents. Female adolescents revealed different patterns of aging-related response between the audience motives and the audience attitude. They are less affected by age and audience motives to form audience attitude compare with males. Therefore, the program with various performing arts would be more effective to form the positive audience attitude and future job choice.

이 연구는 성인에 비해 상대적으로 연구가 부진한 청소년을 대상으로 공연관람동기가 공연관람태도에 미치는 영향과 이 공연관람태도가 미래에 공연예술계에 대한 직업선택의도에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증연구를 시도하였다. 기존 여가활동 연구에서 다루지 않았던 여가태도 중 관람태도나 장기적 효과로써의 직업선택의도로 연구개념확장을 시도하였다. 실증분석 결과, 남자청소년의 경우에는 나이가 들어갈수록 관람동기가 관람태도에 미치는 영향이 적게 나타나, 어릴 적에 많은 공연관람기회를 갖게 하는 것이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 여자청소년의 경우에는 나이나 관람동기에 따른 감정적 인지적 태도의 변화가 남학생에 비해 크지 않은 편이고, 남학생들보다 공연관람에 대해 긍정적인 태도를 보이기 때문에 조기에 공연동기를 형성시키는 프로그램 운영보다는 다양한 공연장르에 노출시키는 것이 더 좋은 관람태도형성이나 직업선택의도에 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다.
