The criteria of life as established by biology in history have been challenged by technology developments such as the analysis and disassembly of what are known as organisms and even more by the artificial composition of organisms. The human body has been analyzed and disassembled. This paper presents artworks related to artificial intelligence and robotics, which are highlighted as a new means of implementation and as new subject matter through technology developments. Specifically, the humanization of machines and the mechanization of humans are discussed while considering "Geppetto's Dream," an interactive artwork which uses Pinocchio as motivation. The artwork's interaction was implemented with keyboard-based questions input by the viewer, with synthetic voice-based answers output by the artwork. The artwork presents questions related to the criteria of life to viewers. This paper demonstrates the philosophical viewpoint and contribution of the artwork with respect to the co-evolution of humans and machines considering that the humanization of machines and the mechanization of humans are different directions of evolution. The technological implementation of the dialog system between the viewers and the mechanical cyborg is described, with the latter consisting of hardware such as sensors and servo motors and software to operate the question-answer system and a dictionary based on regular expressions. The implementation of artificial intelligence robotics artwork is shown through an analysis of the how the artwork operates and of the structure and implementation of the dialog system.

과학이 발달함에 따라 기존 생물학이 세워놓았던 생명체의 기준은 혼란 위에 놓이게 되었다. 놀라운 기술력으로 인공적으로 세포를 합성하는 것조차도 가능해졌다. 우리의 몸은 분석되고 해체된다. 본 논문은 예술 분야의 소재로도, 구현방법으로도 적극적으로 기술을 사용하는 인공지능과 로보틱스(robotics) 관련 예술 작품에 대해 이야기한다. 그중 피노키오를 모티브로 제작된 인터렉티브 작품 "제페토의 꿈"을 중심으로 인공지능 로보틱스 작품에 접근한다. 위 작품은 인간이 타이핑으로 기계와 대화를 시도하는 반면 기계는 사람처럼 입을 벌려 대답을 하는 설치구조로 이루어져 있다. 관객은 이 작품을 경험하며 과학의 발전에 따라 우리가 전통적으로 생각해오던 생명의 기준에 대하여 질문받는다. 본 논문은 "제페토의 꿈" 작품이 보여주는 철학적 지향점을 인간과 기계의 공진화(共進化)의 관점에서 살펴본다. 인간화되어가고 있는 기계와 기계화되어가고 있는 인간이 서로를 향해 공진화하고 있다고 기술한다. 그리고 관객과의 인공지능 대화형으로 제작된 위 작품의 기술적 구현방법을 다룬다. 이 작품은 관객과 기계 사이보그가 서로 질의응답을 하며 센서와 모터를 이용해 동작 반응을 하는 등의 작동을 한다. 작품의 작동 원리를 분석하고 대화 시스템의 구조 및 구현방법에 대하여 기술하여 인공지능 로보틱스 작품의 제작 방법을 알아보고 그 의미를 찾는다.
