Today, sports seem to think winning is the best. Sports science believe in science. And in the sports scene, massive capitalism leads the sports world. As a result, the sports world appreciates and follows the functional aspects rather than the psycho-cultural aspects. Therefore, our morality(Social Morals and Customs) is slowing down and falling. By the way, Guggung(國弓; Korean Archery) from ancient times emphasizes spirit culture. Archery in the Orient is called 'the sport of GunJa(君子)'. This is due to the importance of the archery's Do(道) and Yei(禮), as well as the personality and personalities of In(禮) and Dug(禮). So many Classic books said that archery was important for physical and mental discipline and self-reflection. Therefore, archery was a considerable important education in the Orient. In the culture of Guggung(Korean Archery), our spiritual culture and customs are hidden. This study interprets 'proverbs, nouns and idioms related to archery' as a way to find hidden bow culture. The results of this study are to find the traditional culture of archery and to use it as basic data of Korean archery education.

오늘날 스포츠는 우승만 하면 그만이라는 결과주의와 첨단 과학문명의 과학신봉주의 그리고 스포츠를 통해 거대 한 이익을 창출하려는 자본․산업주의에 의해 정신문화적 측면보다는 기능적인 측면을 높이 평가하고 이를 추종하고 있 다. 이로 인하여 우리의 美風良俗이 沈滯되고 墜落하고 있다. 이러한 현실에서 고대로부터 이어온 우리의 傳承 스포츠, 國弓을 생각해 보았다. 國弓은 시작부터 정신문화를 강조한다. 즉, 弓의 道와 禮를 중히 여기며, 仁과 德 같은 人性과 人 品을 높이 받든다. 이러한 이유로 우리 활, 國弓은 서양 스포츠와 달리 ‘君子의 스포츠’라고 自負하여 왔다. 이 연구는 이 러한 전통 스포츠, 國弓을 통해 우리 동양의 정신문화와 더불어 우리 문화풍습을 알고 또 올바른 弓道文化를 정립하는 계기를 만들어 보려하였다. 이를 위해 예부터 전해오는 활과 관련된 俗談과 名詞․慣用語를 풀어보면서 弓道文化를 이해 해 보려고 한다. 우리 활, 國弓의 문화풍습에는 우리 식의 스포츠철학과 동양사상이 숨겨져 있다. 弓道와 관련된 우리의 俗談과 名詞․慣用語에는 人文學的 想像力을 동원해야하는 매력적인 우리말들도 있다. 그리고 고대 동양의 爲政者 혹은 儒學者들은 ‘왜, 弓道를 그렇게 높은 위치’에 올려놓았는지도 알아보는 해답을 줄 것이다. 그리고 활과 관련한 俗談 및 名詞․慣用語에 대한 것이 파편적으로 흩어져 있는 상황에서, 이를 정리하는 것도 이 연구의 또 하나의 목적이다. 이 연구 내용은 우리 활, 國弓敎育의 기초자료로 이용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
